Fire Stick is way better. It's based on Android and you can install android apps. Roku runs its own OS and limits you
Thank you!

I have both. The ROKU seems easier to use IMO. I really like the ROKU over Firestick as it allows me to stream my Spectrum. Firesticks and Spectrum streaming do not play nice and there is no support.
Do you mean streaming the internet from Spectrum or is there a Spectrum app that is for streaming specifically?

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but what do you need to do to jailbreak a Firestick? I think you can then use any app from the Play store, no? For example, I would love to use a VPN app to stream content from areas other than the US.

If you use YouTube Kids, it is not supported on Roku.

There is a spectrum app that allows you to watch all channels you pay for and not need to pay monthly fee for a cable box

Gotcha. That makes sense. I think Comcast has something similar, but we gave up on regular cable.

If these are anything like their predecessors (which based off reviews they are) they get super hot from just being plugged in (not even in use)

This or the Amazon Fire Stick 4K? Thoughts?
Roku supports Airplay. That's enough for my family.

If the TV has a slim wall mount, the Roku sticks can overheat. But the full range TV mounts allow enough air and don't have problems.

i havent found a reason to jailbreak my amazon devices yet. What program or app is the big reason? I have apple which is a tad faster but not something anyone else notices and the roku as noted above can airplay which is a nice feature. I actually prefer the roku interface compared to apple and besides the airplay feature feel roku and amazon devices perform the same.

I'll take the Roku. Don't have great internet and Amazon always has so much stuff loading on the homepage. This really slows down the Firestick for me. It was great at my old home where I had cable internet, but moving to the country I am lucky to get 20mbs. The Firestick just is too slow since it is always trying to load some preview. Thanks for the find, I have been looking for another Roku.

Nothing. Android doesn't need to be "jailbroken", it's the wrong phrase to use and what you need to do to apple devices to use things not in their store. With Android you just need an APK to sideload (which just means to install it).

We have 3 sticks and have never had an issue. I hate the Express since you have to point the remote directly at it. Also if you have Xfinity Roku is the only device that supports the streaming app.
Lg TVs have the Xfinity app also but it's better than the Roku version. With the Roku you have to be home to watch but LG's app lets you watch your account over someone else's house.
