Hmmm...just made a new profile to check against an existing reservation I had for January
Existing reservation: $303 incl taxes
New reservation: $403 incl taxes after promo, less 20% cash back (not including tax amount) ~$340 net.

For a rental in Santa Barbara in two weeks. Avis is $250 with taxes and fees. Costco travel is $187. Hard pass.

I do thats why I wondered why they have the same promo but one company's page explicity shows the 20% off and the amount of gift card you will get but the other does not.

But anyways I booked on priceline. Way cheaper.

For renting car, you should avoid to reservation and pay to third party, Most time it defeats your credit card CDW/LDW insurance that is very important

I just tried to book today, but it is saying 10% giftcard after connecting my Amazon account

The Budget offer stated within 24hrs of BOOKING, not rental. After 48hrs I called and was told it is rental, not booking. I asked if he even sees the Amazon credit pending for my Dec rental, and he told me yes but could not give me the amount. The amount was listed on the rental selections. I said BS and he provided me a case# so when I call back in Dec. I am sure I will be calling back. Thinking of canceling and dispute the $50 cancellation fee with my CC company.

Further deal clarity/insight since I checked with Avis directly a week after reserving a car via this Amazon deal. Avis agent confirmed the Amazon card is delivered 24 hrs after the actual car renting event concludes. That makes sense since why would they send promo card when you could still cxl the reservation, right? I asked to further clarify that they could see the Amazon promo attached to the actual reservation # since in the Avis reservation confirm and the Avis online reservation details, there is no mention of Amazon. CSR confirmed it was booked w that promo. It should/could be clearer, but it ain't. Luckily the rate I found was cheapest available anywhere else, so mine was a good deal and better deal if the promo card actually happens too. Plus, it was a 9 day rental using Amex. For only $19.95 (per booking, not day) Amex offers their full coverage insurance waiver. I don't usually do insurance, but Amex's deal makes sense for longer rental peace o mind...SD sense, heyyyo. Happy travels.

I just returned the rental car today and received an email with the Amazon gift card but it was for only %10 of the base rate. I reached out to them so hopefully they will send the balance.

I noticed the same about Avis - it smells fishy. Their site stinks as well.

I'm really regretting trying this deal. I never received an Amazon card, and I returned my rental over 2 full days ago. At that time, when I asked the woman at the counter about the promotion, she claimed that I had already received it and pointed to the amount of my pre-pay discount, which is a completely separate thing, telling me that I had received a discount through Avis rather than an Amazon card. Liar! I should get BOTH. Now I have to go to the trouble of calling Avis and hassling them about the promo.
