This is a well reviewed bar that's been out for a billion years compared to the Tru Grit one. One might say it's the gold standard of budget bars.

Not a great barbell, but well worth this price. If you already have a good bar, you could use this a a beater bar for landmine work, rack pulls, etc.

Thoughts on this one versus the Tru Grit posted from Walmart?

I also saw someone posted this $85 Titan barbell from eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/38466663...d31fd80INT

Needing a decent multipurpose at home gym barbell (some Oly lifts, some traditional bodybuilding style. nothing over 300# and not planning on "dropping it"). Would it be better to consider a higher tier option (Rogue, Wright, etc)?

Thanks for any input!
imho Rogue Boneyard bar if you want the best bang for the buck. If you're not sure you are going to keep lifting and just want something to start out though or want a second beater bar, any of the recent sub-$100 deals are fine.

Not a bad barbell, knurling is very passive but does hold up well. I've owned this bar for about 5 years now, and the black finish has held up with no rust. My main bars are a rogue power bar and rogue deadlift bar for deadlift but I still use this cap bar daily for high rep stuff when I don't really need the aggressive knurling from the rogue bars.

I've been lifting for a while at the gym and slowly getting more equipment at home. I got a free no name bar someone gave away and was planning on getting another one.

What are the main difference and advantages to the rogue bar vs the cap in this deal?

No argument there. The OB-86B was and may still be the standard by which all other budget barbells are measured. But I've been impressed by Tru Grit. And their barbell that is $100 right now is a needle bearing bar, which would make it superior for any lifts where sleeve spin is important. If you incorporate snatches and cleans into your workouts, grab the Tru Grit. If you ONLY do powerlifting type stuff (deads, squats, bench press), then go with the beast.

If I could only have one multipurpose bar the Rogue Bar is still my favorite. It has my favorite knurling, the bushings are top of class for cleans and snatches, no center knurl for saving your neck, no knurl in the middle that is wide enough for deadlifts to not tear up your shins, and dual markings. At one point I had the Texas squat, deadlift, and power bar and still preferred the Rogue Bar even for power lifts. 🤔

But for $100 this is a very good value. It's great to see decent $100 barbells and $200 power racks to make barbell training more accessible.

Rogue= higher quality, better knurling (if that matters to you), made in USA. When Hafthor Bjornson deadlifted 1,000+ lbs in the Arnold Classic, he was using a Rogue bar. Literally the best barbells you can buy. Buy once, cry once. If you're only going to have one barbell, get a Rogue. Or a Wright Fitness (same advantages listed above). But if you already have a Rogue bar and want a beater bar, get this. Just my $.02. And for anyone who is wondering, "Do cerakote barbells live up to the hype?" They absolutely do. Get a cerakote bar from Wright or Rogue and thank me later.

Have you tried their bar specifically or you mean Tru Grit as a company is impressive. Their prices are competitive which is always a good thing in my book. More competition the better

I have the tru grit barbell amongst others and would recommend you go that route. It is 28MM vs this one which is listed at 30MM. The smaller diameter makes oly lifts and pretty much everything easier and more comfortable, and the tru grit has great spin for oly lifts.

Had this bar for a few years, it was good. I just wanted more aggressive knurling.

All the photo reviews with metal splinters after a few months of use kills it for me.

It's weird. On the Amazon product page, it says it's 28.5mm, but then further down it says 30mm. Cap's website says 28.5 though, so I think the 30mm spec is a misprint. Most of Rogue's mens bars are 28.5mm as well so that's not a deal-breaker for oly lifts.

I sent mine back, between the metal shavings and the black dye coming off onto my hands, it was not worth keeping at any price.
