P41 is faster overall metrics but this one is faster in QD1 read/writes which is what primarily matters for most IO tasks (OS drive perf).
Can't go wrong with either. At this price though I'd choose Samsung.
P31 is a gen3 drive and can't be compared with these two.
THIS! Came here to post the same. I bought this for $249 in July, so $171 with the CB on the Prime card is a deal. Below is a link to my review with CrystalMark.
This was for the second slot in my Lenovo Pro 5 i7-12700h RTX 3070 from Walmart for $1599 that came with a 1TB Samsung PM9A1, which is an OEM version of the 980.

I think this is a great deal if you also use your amazon credit card for an 10% cash back vs the normal 5%.

If my pc has 2 m.2 drive slots can I put this into the second and clone the first over to boot from this moving forward and then reformat the original drive and use it for storage?
Yes but you might want to check if both slot is pci-e gen 4. If not, you have to move this drive to the gen 4 one.
Did some more research, and it seems most motherboard include a heat sink for .2 SSD drives. Heard some people not being able to fit in the SSD with the Samsung heat sink. I went ahead and ordered the non heat sink version

yes but make sure you change the bios to use your new one that you cloned to be the boot drive and then clear out the old one; or just remove it to be sure it works; some motherboard can have issues with cloning and automatically default to the first m.2 slot for boot

FYI, that laptop supports 64GB RAM despite Lenovo's specs (which dropped over $50 also in just 3 months).

Also have a legion laptop. L5P '21 w/ 3070 & Ryzen 7. Was a great addition since that laptop didn't support Gen 4 speeds.

Doesn't look like the model that comes with one has the same 10% CB deal and has a financing option instead.
