This is how much these SATA drives should have been a long time ago. It's completely bonkers that these were the same price as much faster m.2 nvme drives.

No DRAM, meaning would not be ideal as an OS drive. The Crucial MX500 drive at $107 is definitely worth the extra few dollars. Prices are coming down on quality drives so hold out for another sale unless you need a drive this second.

imo its because once you get 2TB worth of data you want something a little more reliable. The only things I would trust on this drive would be game installs and or using it as a scratch drive for video editing. There is 0 chance I would archive 2TB worth of data on this thing.

Because Samsung, SK Hynix and Micro have been milking consumers with 1-2TB for the past decade at high prices that this seems cheap.

from my understanding, if you are a Gamer, these drives would be great for game installations. The high speed from NVME m.2 drives don't benefit games in a noticeable manner. You should choose NVME drives over the SATA SSDs if you frequently transfer large files, something that would benefit a video editor.

that might change once directstorage api is implemented in new games. however, this drive will still be fine for your backlog, and i imagine it'll still be fine with future games even if you're not taking advantage of directstorage.

Newegg has the CX2 for the same price and it comes with a 64GB flash drive. No clue what's different between the AX2 and CX2. https://www.newegg.com/team-group...6820331573
