My only quibble with this is the fixed 16GB RAM. It's a performance machine, but for either power users or as a desktop replacement, 16GB is just too little.

Good find, though!

Agree - I could be wrong but per the BB site, it comes with 2 8Gb sticks so it technically can be upgraded to 32 / 64 GB, etc. as needed.

I so wish that was true! But the HP datasheet linked at Best Buy clearly says (see PDF page 2 [bbystatic.com]):
  • Memory • 16 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM (onboard)
  • Accessible memory slots • Memory slot not user accessible

What a strange position for the headphone jack and 2nd TB port (on the "top" corners of the unit in tablet mode)

The other note is that it's rated at 135W and comes with a standard AC adapter as well as the usual DC jack on one edge. Although it supports USB-C PD on both ports, those won't go above 100W.

Open box excellent is $1077 so title is a little misleading.

Seems to be a good deal on the open box! If only the panel was 90hz this would be pretty damn good.

Bummer! I wonder if "Not user accessible" implies that you would have to open it up to access the slots. I would love to see a video of someone opening it up to see whether the slots can be accessed easily.

That said, I do think that 16 Gb is plenty for most of us (at least for now)

Only if it was smaller I don't want to lug around a 16 inch laptop I currently have the Spectre 13 the previous year 4K model. 2.2LB

OP: You say the battery life is "very very good" but a lot of reviews are saying only 6.5 hours on the 80WH. What are you getting in your experience? And are the speakers really good?

I would've thought the same but once I started using the 16" form factor, I couldn't go back to my regular 13" Macbook Pro. That said, I do not travel with it daily but overall, the expanded horizontal real estate is a godsend for productivity, browsing, etc. as I don't need to scroll as much.

I've consistently gotten 12+ hours of use on battery - I believe HP claim 17+ hours for the 3K version so I imagine this will be worse due to the 4K OLED display

We should check if anyone has actually opened it. My HP laptop's manual says the same and it's in fact, user accessible. I upgraded mine.

My wife has the 14 or 13.5 inch version. The screen is amazing and the sound quality is amazing as well. I took the 16" open box excellent deal. Thx
