An Air is used mostly for lighter duty, so should last longer.

On my base M1 air with 8GB, I can run 3 RAW photo editors side by side simultaneously plus iMovie plus Firefox or Chrome with 15-20 tabs open and still don't have "RAM" issues.
Unless you mean RAM issues is the same thing as using swap. Yes, you do use swap. But it's so fast I don't even notice.
Will this burn out your SSD? Yes. Eventually. But even with how I'm using my machine I forecast I'll get at least 6-7 years of use out of it.
Ipad apps are not really a great experience on it…
Better prices are likely around the holidays, anyway.

I know how to measure % of disk write usage on my SSD and forecast that forward.
6-7 years of use is plenty for me before upgrading.
