Their website says "max of $500" but your post says max of $50. Might want to adjust that.

It's a max of $500 back.

Not sure where you get the 4.25% from. It's their normal rate plus 1%, so currently 3.25%.

Edit: My bad, 4.25% annualized.

How does this part work? I only have to keep the balance above the new money amount through the end date? What if I have $100K in now, then I can put in another $50K for $150K total. Can I take out $50K of "old money" out and be back to my original balance, keep that through the end date and still get the bonus?

We'll calculate your bonus using the Net New Funds —the total of any New Money minus any withdrawals you make

doesn't seem like it, since they of course aren't interested in you taking 50k out and depositing it again

The way I read it is that they use yesterday's balance as the benchmark amount (terms say end of 10/11/2022). Whatever amount you maintain over that benchmark up through 1/15/2023 will get the 1% bonus.

So in your example I think you wouldn't get the bonus.

I did a similar offer with Ally a few years back. I put the requisite new money into savings on time. After that I had OTHER deposits and then withdrawals in my savings account which brought the total in my savings down to less than was in it when I started, but still well above the "new money" amount I put in. They refused my bonus.

So yes, I think you are correct in that you must maintain an amount over the benchmark.

#3 on the linked webpage at Ally.com, Your new money must remain in your eligible Ally Bank account through 1/15/2023. Keep in mind, any withdrawals made during this time may reduce your bonus.
