I've been loyal to the pi, having used every full standalone SBC since the pi2. TBH, unless you plan on making a small device (real project), or will actually use the IO pins, you should be getting a used PC.
Computing power, price, and availability aren't in the Pi's favor.

Like Ikea furniture, the price of all the damn parts adds up, and like used furniture used PCs are usually better once you brush them up. None of the bedbug risk though 😁

The power supply supplies the maximum device power. My expectations are that this device will sip power, since the processor has a very low TDP, and this has no dedicated graphics card

I bet you could google the device's idle power consumption, but it would probably be less than 15W

Even though this deal is marked unavailable, the ebay listing showed 17 units left at the time of this post. I was able to buy one to use as a desktop for word processing and streaming some youtube and netflix videos. Have some RAM sticks from my previous build that I am hoping will work to upgrade the memory on this PC.

I got this PC last time at same price. I am happy with it. I work from home and use Citrix to connect to work. I am able to connect two monitors and I have no problems at all.

This does everything I want, casual browsing, Microsoft office, Netflix, YouTube, Prime video etc. after I purchased this PC and started using it I realized I don't need a super computer for my work. If your use is like mine, this is a good PC.

Bought this for almost similar purposes - connect to work software through Citrix, and casual browsing/streaming.

Did you have to upgrade the RAM at all? Or is 4 GB sufficient for your needs?

Also, what monitor are you using with this? I want to use this PC to drive a 3440x1440 screen, so I am wondering if I may need to do the RAM upgrade simply due to the higher screen resolution, I am not sure if that will help anything though.

I bought this PC on this deal 6 months ago and have been using it as my daily driver. It's been nothing but great. I put an extra nvme drive in the PCI slot with a $5 adapter I got from China. Also doubled the ram with the exact same Samsung stick it came with; approximately 15 to $20 at Amazon. In case you missed it, it's basically a laptop motherboard inside a PC case. I also bought the $200 i3 version and use that for more complex editing and faster Photoshop. But this $88 job is great for word processing and surfing the web. It is also so quiet you'll barely know it's on. Sips barely any electricity. You won't be disappointed.

I don't know what your talking about. I also have 2 of these and have dual Intel nics in the pcie slots that work just fine at the same time as the nvme drive.
