I did not upgrade the RAM. It looks like I dont need more than 4GB for my usage. I was surprised too. I was skeptical at first but this machine is handling well so far. I am using two 1080p monitors. I have two monitors (not so fancy) already from my previous desktop.

OP - Thanks for the post. Got one, and have been using it for a couple of days. Good deal for those that don't need a high horsepower machine. I added 4GB more memory for cheap ($6 shipped on eBay); not the same brand, but same specs. I also have the i3 version now on sale for $176. Not a big difference in day to day use for my intended purposes.

One question. When performing the "Userbenchmark" computer test, do you get a high CPU running in background notice?

Thanks. Wish I had read your comment earlier. I returned J4125 and bought the i3 version assuming it has 3 to 4 times faster CPU. Hope this difference is noticeable in day to day use. Otherwise just wasted additional $80.

well the i3 version should last a year or two longer once updates slow this one down too much to be that usable

I have disconnected the CD/DVD drive as it won't be used; this also saves a small amount of power. It was left in place for aesthetic purposes. I can always hook it up if needed.

hey, i hope I'm not bothering anyone by resurrecting this mostly-dead thread/deal page.

so I've got this computer and I'm looking to clean some redundant Raspberry Pi & NAS clutter. they run Home Assistant, PiHole, a file server, and Plex. I used to have a website too until some scary QNAP hacking scandals arose.

anyway, my biggest question is if I should stick with the copy of Windows that came with this computer, or wipe the drive and install Ubuntu then Docker, Unraid or some other package. i appreciate any help and suggestions.
