Just got mine today. Everything's great except the fingerprint sensor, which doesn't work 99% of the time. How did they screw this up?!

People that bought the Pixel 7 (NOT pro), did you get the model with mmWave?

So confused who has this with the normal pixel 7.

I said the same thing about Pixels dropping to half value by Christmas and all the fanboys and flippers downvoted me.

Pixels are a forgettable brand they're like demo phones. As soon as new phones come out people will not remember generic ass Google
You and others are probably receiving downvotes because it doesn't seem like you're here with a real interest in the deal. I think the vast majority of people in the thread have a genuine interest in the phone, are excited to get it, and discussing the phone and the deal. You're in here poo-pooing the devices and letting it's current or future resale value be the most important factor.

Does how much a device hold its value matter? Sure. But letting it be the sole determining factor in whether or not you buy it seems ridiculous if you actually value using and enjoying your phone. I've got an S22 Ultra which surely has one of the top 2 or 3 values for trade ins now and in the future. It will probably be a minimum out of pocket cost to get the S23 Ultra (most likely with free or near free upgrades and extras) or other phone in the near future. But all that means little to nothing if I'm just done with the phone now. Heck, I'm not even looking to upgrade to the next model of the same old thing and experience at this point.

I just want a good, dependable phone with a fast, good camera. The Pixel 7 does that and I'm not going to let these promos go by while I have to continue to deal with a mediocre, lacking experience on a top tier flagship phone, even if it means the phone I'm getting won't net me more down the line. I think the repeated, daily experience with the phone counts much more than its resale value. Why settle for less every single day and time you use a phone just so you can get more credit towards buying another of the same down the line? You do you and let your device's future resale value determine what you buy, but that just seems like a sad experience.

Just the opposite experience here...fingerprint reader works for me 99% of the time, as opposed to the Pixel 6 where it worked 70% of the time. Face unlock works great too. Overall, very pleased with the 7, good call reception, responsive, great battery life and the slightly smaller size compared to the 6 makes it easier for 1 hand operation for many things.

Does your 7 get very warm easily? Mine does that especially when using cellular data like doing speed test. My 4a 5g never gets as warm as 7. The plus side is 5g speed improves by a large number. P7 5g speed is above 100 Mbps when I'm home. My 4a 5g speed never goes above 50 Mbps at home. P7 top speed I've experienced is around 800 Mbps (down).

Wow...I bought my 4a 5G in 2020 for $350 from Google. This trade in is a slam dunk to upgrade.

Nice. Glad it's not all of them. I must've just gotten a defective unit. It happens.

And this is without a screen protector? If so, thats definitely an issue. However, if you have a screen protector, that could be the problem. Some of them are really bad with fingerprint scanners. With screen protector, helps to set up the prints in a dark room, sometime have to do it twice for the same finger.

Both with and without a screen protector. By contrast, my Samsung Galaxy s20fe has never once had a problem with the sensor, even with a glass screen protector. Google is sending me a replacement, but honestly I might just return the phone for a refund. It's a nice device, but it's really not much of an upgrade.

Nice argument, but sorry, resale value matters if you want to stay current with flagship phones each generation or so without taking a big hit financially. I think people are foolish if they don't take that into account when buying a phone, and that seems like the real sad experience when others like you either try to trivialize it or don't even take that into account at all.

The other SDer is correct. The street value of Pixels phones tank rapidly, and demand in general is typically low for Pixels phones, especially compared to iPhones. For android lovers, you're basically screwed for resale because few hold street value well except for the Samsung Ultras, but even the Ultra cannot compete with an iPhone for resale value.

Android users are best left to playing the trade-in game each year or so. Staying within the same ecosystem, like Samsung for example, can result in some quality upgrades for minimum cost. But even within the trade-in game, Pixel phones often don't get top tier tiv like Samsung flagships.

Not bashing the Pixel series, they seem like nice phones with excellent cameras, but the truth is resale value and tiv matter to most, or should. Enjoy your Pixel 7, but don't expect it to be worth much down the road as say an iPhone or Ultra. Those are nice phones with nice cameras too, are much easier to sell, and hold their value better than any Pixel.

For those who have an old phone lying around that suddenly now has high tiv from BB thanks to this promo, it is worth doing this deal for the Pixel 7. For others, probably not so much.
You sort of contradicted your premise. The reason people are jumping on this deal is they are getting a good trade in price on their recent pixel phones.

I really don't understand taking so much effort to post about a phone you supposedly have zero interest in on a thread about said phone. If it's not for you, then move on.
