The same can be said about classic cars, HiFi audio equipment, road bikes, guns, liquors, or anything else certain communities are appreciative of. There is always a group of people that like things for a particular set of features, craftsmanship, or specific emotions they bring.

$3200 is pretentious? On a brand most people outside the Watch community have likely never heard of? Ok.

Also, you seem fun.

Pretentious is thread crapping on items you don't understand as a way of making yourself feel superior for being cheap.

Have this exact watch with blue face. Got it for retail at 3.7k. Price is now 3.8k Tudor does not do discounts.

Decent deal for no papers. Save few hundred.

Here's an excellent article on Tutor watches. It puts into perspective how good these watches are at an excellent pricepoint (for a high end watch)

Another pretentious expenditure. Don't understand why people buy these things...
What a troll.

Just bc your not into watches doesn't mean you have to post about how expensive this is and a waste of money etc. This is about as cheap as it gets in the luxury watch world. If you enjoy your $5 Casio then don't click on these deals

Stick to Seiko if you must have an automatic. If you need something of quality and real functionality and convenience for the modern world, get a Citizen Eco-Drive from the Promaster series. Spend your excess on smart long-term investments, land/property, reliable cars, quality clothing, and education. Avoid crypto. That's all I have to say, kids.

Really cheap considering this watch had a wait list at most ADs pre-recession. But if this is ur first time getting a real watch, get it from an AD for the experience.

I was once thinking of buying a Tudor but saw the Grand Seiko Spring Drive movement and got a Grand Seiko instead.
I was in the same boat. GS is def worth a look if you're considering a watch at this price point or a little above. I bought a GS GMT spring drive last year and just bought a Tudor Pelagos LHD this past week. They are both great watches for different reasons. I think GS is going to keep getting more popular and well known. The fit and finish is fantastic and the spring drive is unique and keeps perfect time...I also considered a Rolex sport watch but in my business I'd rather not wear such a well known in your face luxury type of watch (plus they are still hard to find and overpriced at the moment).

What I don't understand is the functionality of the bezel. What exactly is the purpose of the rotating bezel on this watch. It's not like it can calculate time & distance or pressure altitude. Looks pretty pointless.

And Warren Buffet rides around in an old Lincoln but has a million dollar Rolex collection. It's almost like people enjoy different things in life.

Okay. Bought one
Totally and I love the black one!! I'm sticking to my Seiko Prospex Samurai. Classic, sturdy, and it keeps time just as well as these Tudors (at 10x le$$)... and there's less chance I'll get assaulted and robbed of my watch when I'm walking out and about...in our lovely U.S.and A.

Now that's a smart choice.

I think you may not be aware of what is going on in the upscale watch market. Mechanical watches are more popular now than they have been in decades.

I personally own upscale watches and I wear them every day. I buy carefully and try to get any depreciation built in. If you're smart about it, you can sell them for a healthy profit which at a minimum gives me back inflation. I know it sounds silly but you can do very well buying and selling watches as a hobby. These aren't cars, if you buy smart it's generally a non depreciating asset. Buy a 10k watch. Wear it for 5 years. Sell it for 13k. The key is to be smart and the market is going through a bubble but there's still a lot of winners if you are careful.

I don't think Tudor's will increase in value that much, but I do think it will likely retain its value and you could sell several years down the line for not much less than this purchase price. Or keep it forever and pass it down to your kids. I have a lot of nostalgia with a number of my watches as they were purchased to celebrate a memory.
Where do you sell them when needed?
