I've had this for the past 3 or so years and it's been amazing. No squeaks, no unexpected bends or weaknesses. Super light by comparison to older frames I've had and plenty of room for under-bed storage.

For your consideration:
We had this frame for a while and we like it: sturdy and good quality, but I've stubbed my toe on the foot in the middle more time than I can count as I'm getting in to the bed.
I've seen some frames that move that middle support foot in toward the middle a bit and that seems like a better design.

These are outstanding if you have kids in off campus housing. So easy to move and can take a memory foam mattress. And with cheap furniture on FBM and CL, there's no reason to save the grandparents furniture in storage units.

True, but those people probably won't deliver it to my house for free, they probably won't let me return it for a refund within 30 days if I decide I don't like it, and also it's used. Also it means dealing with randos in my area which can be quite the crapshoot.
Sometimes you get trash on offerup. I was many times scammed and still continue

if you've never had a bed platform like this... be forewarned. RIP your toes.

those vertical supports right at the edge of the bed will destroy you. Ive been looking to upgrade our king frame like this for a while now because of it.

Can I use them to make DIY performance stage for a music party by adding plywood? Just thinking
One or two persons standing or walking, I don't see why not.

It's a good thought, but I would not. Bed frames are not made to sustain a live load (people/equipment moving around). I would just build modules from 2x lumber and plywood or buy something made for the purpose.

Also, 14in seems pretty low for a stage.

Now I just need a deal on a full size memory foam mattress. Hoping to pickup a couple 12" full mattresses for $200-$225 apiece by Black Friday.

I can't comment on the brand in this thread, but I've been using this one [amazon.com] off Amazon for 4 years now and I really like it. So much better than a box spring, as it's way easier to move and allows for plenty of room underneath for storage. I got it off Amazon Warehouse for around $60 in Very Good condition, it's gone even cheaper than that new. I wasn't worried about bed bugs because it would be difficult for them to live in a metal support platform lol. I also got bunkie board for a little more support for my Casper mattress, but unless you have a memory foam you probably don't need one.

Does this need a box spring or can you just toss a mattress on top.
No box spring required. Just toss the mattress on top.

Bought a variation of that a few years ago. It will do the job, but it's pretty meh. The thin metal bars will snap easily or naturally bend over time from the weight (so do not try to stand at all or even put your weight on one leg just to reach over for something). But thankfully it doesn't creak since the frame itself is pretty much barebones.

If you're okay with not having a headboard, then it makes a decent budget frame until you go for something sturdier. Advantage of it being lightweight is that you can reposition your bed easily and move it around. It's way lighter than your mattress. (Note: this is only about the Amazon one, not Mainstays)

Because of the design, this bed ruined my 200 dollar mattress in 1.5 years of just sleeping. It has no side support and bottom is thin metal instead of wide wood planks. Real bed is more expensive for a reason. Buy this if you don't mind changing your mattress every 1.5 years.
