I would get the 7 for your first watch since it's a lot cheaper than the 8 now, and there are no noticeable benefits on the 8 on a day to day basis. I feel the 8 would be outdated when 9 comes out, but 7 is apples to apples to the 8.

Get a 7 at the current prices. No need to pay more for the 8. The difference in models is not worth the extra cost. If this is your first iwatch you will be very happy.

Get the 7 it does everything fitness and more. The difference between 8 and 7 is not worth the price. When the 7 is on sale.
