Best to worst tuna grades range from Bluefin, Blackfin, Yellowfin... to Albacore and finally Skipjack. Light Tuna is Skipjack.
Bumble Bee's canned Light Tuna regularly runs from $0.20 to $0.26 / oz.
This Lemon and Pepper pouch is Light Tuna (Skipjack). With discount it runs at $0.34 / oz.
Unfortunately no, meat and high protein foods packaged wet in foil bags start to decline in quality pretty dramatically after about 2-3 years. Which is still pretty good if you're talking about short-term use, but not nearly as good as the four to six years that you would get for from a steel can.

If you want to store something for longer than that you need to combine a number of different preservation techniques. full cooking followed by dehydration or freeze drying, vacuum seal with an oxygen absorber in a fully opaque container and then store in a cold place.

Freeze drying machines are apparently fairly affordable compared to buying any significant quantity of freeze-dried food.

YW! I think so, too. I just noticed the tomato & basil flavor is not much more.

Great post. I've eaten my share of those dehydrated and whatnot foods so I'll add this...

The lemon pepper flavor is pretty strong.

That's a GOOD THING. IT'S TUNA. That also means it won't smell as bad because Lord knows there is always someone who just can't stand the smell so... Tah Dah!

I buy the Thai chili flavor of this and love it. Goes great with salads I bring to work.
