What's truly odd here are the bits: while the package contains 10 bits, there are only three sizes - four of the same size Philips, and three each of the same sized square and flat bits.

I am not sure how this makes sense - it certainly does not make sense to me.

Sometimes with the magnetized bit holders in general I can't seem to remove the bit. Is there a method to unmagnetize the bit from the bit holder? I tried with pliers and still wasn't able to get the bit out of the holder.

Yes, you pull the sleeve all the way down, that way you can just push the bit and it dislodges. Otherwise you'd have to try to pull the bit out but with the sleeve up it's magnetized too so you'd have to pull extra hard to get it out.

it is good to buy but not a good deal, as they go on sale for 99c 2 of them for $2 and the box and bits for 5 I think 7 is the right price, but if you don't have time, this is good.
