At $35 bucks, this is a HECK of a deal. Each of my cars have these. Have had no issues jumping passenger cars/trucks. Will don't jump larger trucks or even those in the F250 class and up.

Do these actually work on dead batteries and not just weak batteries? I've tried a few different kinds that are small like this and none of them seem to work on an actually completely drained battery. They seem to be for people with a low battery.

It works on dead batteries but it needs to be above 80%ish from my experience. I had my 3yr old battery die on my car after sitting in the garage due to covid. I rarely drove it, so for a few months the only way it'd start is if I used this thing. I even got a battery tender and the battery never held a charge, but this thing would start it up. I got quite a few starts out of it too surprisingly. Eventually changed out the battery so I don't use it much now but it definitely pulled it's weight

You possibly will need a battery maintainer. I have noco and another brand which I can't remember the name.

Sometimes you get lucky and they will come back to life

I just bought the other version of this without lcd screen but bigger flashlight, same size battery for I think $50 at Costco. Bought it because my Tacoma had a dead battery from sitting around for months. Charged it up, and it didn't provide enough juice to jump it on the first try, but I let it sit there for a minute til it shut off, reconnected it and tried again and on the second time it was able to turnover. So it worked. But the battery wasn't completely dead either. Internal electronics still turned on beforehand. MAY work again in the future, but I think I'm going to return it for a bigger one.
