I almost completed checkout twice but decided to pass. The value is definitely there, I can stomach the half serrations and the tanto blade but the giant "Strike Fighter" written across the side was the final nail. I'm sure it's a great tool but looks like it was designed by a kid inspired by a video game.

No comments yet... I currently have this as an EDC... https://www.knifecenter.com/item/...um-handles
How realistic is the MSRP of this and what's the normal price of it if not that? Does it make a good EDC? I prefer a smaller knife I don't think about.

Okc is a good company. https://www.bladehq.com/item--Ont...em-reviews

This a tanto but the model gets decent reviews. Can't go wrong for a $35 auto from a reputable company

Not sure this would be a great edc knife for the "average" guy. If you work on a farm or law enforcement/search and rescue, it would be fine. This is a BIG knife compared to the Kershaw Leek pictured above. The price is good, it's just that no one has been buying them. They were $200 or so when they came out.

edit: Forgot to mention, it's made with a great all around steel.

Ontario is a decent knife manufacturer, most known for the RAT series of folders, there have been a few posts here for it. They are on the value side of the industry, but still with quality, eg not anything like gas station (or S&W) knives. That said, this is a chunky boy... and some (like me) don't really like partially serrated blades because they are REALLY hard to sharpen... but for $43 shipped... I will pick one up to add to the collection, but probably not to EDC though.

Popular U.S. automatic knife manufacturers like Protech and Microtech charge well over $200 for their OTS (out the side) knives. Models like Protech TR-3, TR-4 or Microtech LUDT.

I guess Ontario tried to compete with those knives with this model but nobody was buying it, so they're discontinuing it and KnifeWorks is clearing them out of the warehouse.

$35 / $43 is a good price for this USA made automatic knife. Reputable manufacturer using quality steel (not a supersteel though). It's big and heavy, which wouldn't make for a good EDC knife. This being a tanto with serrated edge is also not a preferred EDC blade grind. I wouldn't consider this an EDC knife, it's a tactical knife.

Looks like Boker Strike with D2:

https://www.bladehq.com/item--Bok...tic--32038

About 1/2 inch longer and 1/2 ounce lighter according to specs.
Steel might be better-stainless and easier to sharpen.

BHQ supposedly modifies springs on Boker so that might make a difference, Lowest I have seen Bokers is around 40 so this is a good price.

D2 is not stainless. 154CM is a better steel. That Boker is made in Taiwan, not USA. You also linked a sold out knife.

Ontario has a history of literally manufacturing official military issue knives. Marine combat, Navy UDT, USAF pilot survival, M9 and Marine bayonet, M3 trench knife, mil spec machete, spax, etc etc etc.

Including the Darrel Ralph X-ray 18 automatic tanto point combat knife...

Yeah ironically enough 154cm is actually stainless steel while d2 is not (although it's some would call it semi stainless). D2 is harder though and retains an edge better.
