but it's not currently on sale... I would love if it went on a sale like the Lenovo just had cause this is touchscreen. But other then the current price difference... how much better would a I5 11th gen be vs 12th gen i3?
The computer is very smooth and fast. No lag at all. It's huge though, but you should know that as it's 16 in. Perfect for just leaving on desk and only moving once in a while.
My open box excellent did have an issue with the speakers. It was barely loud enough and even at 100% it felt more like 30% and even still sounded like a tin can. I went and tried the demo model in store and it was much better, so i exchanged it and got them to send a replacement. Make sure to test that out. Otherwise the laptop looked like it was new.
The keyboard seems a bit awkward with a squeezed in numpad. But i realized many of the laptops had that. I guess that's a new thing for asus? But it should be something you get used to.

I carry it everywhere.. I'm hoping an extra pound won't make a difference.
It was in the I think 14 day return window and the machine was defective. So BB replaced it. I told them the speaker was defective. It was unusable. I would have just returned it, if they said no exchange.
I didnt pay extra for the protection plan. At this low of a price, I didnt think it was worth it since I was trying to spend as little as possible anyway. I would see if you like the condition . At Excellent, it should be almost new, maybe someone tried a chromebook and realized it's not for them.
I wouldnt chance it at any lower condition. I dont want a worn out demo model.

With my work laptops now, with screen open, i could pick it up with one hand and move it from place to place on my desk, or to another desk. The Chromebook it's too heavy and awkward to do it 1 handed. I would say its more a permanent laptop with occasional moving around. If you plan to take it with you to class, to work, to coffee shop, library, this wouldnt be good for it.
You could try it in the store. I looked at ALL the laptops in the store and trying to find it... turns out there's a separate section for chromebooks. So dont waste time in the regular laptop section. There's Windows, Apple, then Chromebook sections.
There was another deal but expired now with the new Lenovo gaming chromebooks. I'd wait for one of those deals to get a "better performance" chromebook. I'd only get the i3's or better not the super lower powered chromebooks.
I hope it gets a similar sale. Looks like a fantastic chromebook. I've had an Asus 15.6" i3 Chromebook for over a year now and it's been awesome. Only negative is the lame screen color wise and only 250 nits. They just went cheap like most lower end laptops. That 16" Acer looks to have a really nice screen and i5 CPU which will handle anything.

For $260 I guess it's not a bad deal. I wouldn't pay $470 again for it. But back then in 2021, there were hardly any other 15.6" Chromebooks and the Lenovo one with an i5 and great screen was crazy expensive.
On the plus side the i3 rocks and handles everything just fine. I stream a lot of Directv Stream with it, in addition to Youtube and always have like 40 tabs open and just keeps chugging. If you don't care about media consumption, this model should serve you well.
Curious, why would you return the 16" for this cheaper model? Pricing only? It's way better than the 15.6" model probably in every way.
