it's the Ultimate PC monitor that's what. I wouldn't be surprised if this size is outselling all of the other ones. I just need the price to come down a little more!
It must be 3 times bigger.
I've been eying the C2 but now that the Asus PG42UQ is out the decision is more difficult.

Just purchased! Combine this with Chase 5% cashback Paypal offer and this is the lowest you will see the 42inch C2. No way BF will beat this deal.
Agreed, I used my chase freedom for 5% paypal cashback. Comes out to about $875 before tax! Hell of a deal for a $1400 OLED gaming monitor with G-Sync and 120 Hz and insanely low input lag that doubles as amazing desktop real estate space for my PC. Applause

Perhaps. Would using an all-black screensaver be comparable to powering off a monitor?

I run two pieces of open source software that solve all the standby issues that the LG OLED have when used as a monitor. (Hint, LGTV Companion).

Just check the Oled_gaming subreddit, the pinned post has all the details.

It's definitely not the ultimate PC monitor. The pixelation is not your standard pixelation so text on this looks hazy and glowy. If Microsoft, Apple, Google and Linux adopt the standard then it would probably go down as one of the greatest but until then it's just a really great gaming monitor.

Virtual pinball builders love these units. 42" is perfect for a widebody cabinet and an oled play field looks absolutely amazing.

Didn't know what virtual pinball was before this post? You're welcome.

Too many compromises to be the "ultimate PC monitor." 42" is still too big to use comfortably in most scenarios, the sub pixel layout doesn't play nice with Windows, burn-in is very much a concern if you're not exclusively using it for gaming/media, and the ABL is a real pain in the rear even with a service remote reducing it.

OLEDs provide the best picture quality hands down, but they're not ready for PC use yet, especially with any level of productivity.

Sony A90 for 80 dollars more. I have Sony rewards points that I can apply to purchases but not sure if it works through eBay.

Any thoughts on this TV?

Problem is most are buying this as a monitor and 48" is definitely too big for most. Those that were ok with 48" probably got one ages ago with the CX or C1 but the 42" is new and only on this C2 gen, and has recently been more expensive than the 48" C2.

42" is better for monitor size at 4k resolution, it's already pushing it as a large format monitor. 48 is larger but not as good monitor wise. If you only plan to use this as a TV, obviously the larger size makes more sense.

42" is a fantastic monitor size. I highly doubt you've even tried a 42" if you think it is too big to use.

Burnin is the only real concern here. But the samsung q90b and sony x90k solve that.

From my research, text is crisp at 150% and up. If you like your monitor text at less than 150% you may be disappointed, but for most people this will be a great monitor. Also serves as a great gaming monitor, with very high refresh and low input lag

Heard there is a panel lottery right now with this 42 inch its using c1 panels with c2 software features. Now going on the last part of the year there is a chance 42 inch may have c1 or c2 panels.

To make things worse 42 inch or 48 inch c2 panels has a limiter to not get as bright as the 55 inch and above due to heat or something dont quote me on that. I think its still brighter than c1 but not like the big brothers.

Still awesome gaming monitor/TV... the ultra wide screen features is great. 48 inch at 32:9 is like dual 24 inch 1080p monitors in one or 42 inch is dual 21 inch in one. 21:9 even bigger when calculated versus what you see out there for PC OLED ultra widescreen monitors.
