As 4-core i-series based 6th and 7th generation CPUs these are very decent PCs for basic productivity and more. Windows 10 support is scheduled to continue through October 14, 2025. As such these PCs are arguably reasonable investments for anyone seeking a productivity daily driver.

However, be aware that this price reflects a discount which is beginning to appear for those machines, like these, which do not support an automatic upgrade path to Windows 11. While you certainly can install Windows 11 on these devices, Windows 11 is not technically supported on these particular CPUs. As such, an even better investment might have been something like the similarly priced laptops being sold by Dell refurbished at around the same price with 8th generation CPUs. Using those as desktop replacements would provide the same user experience but with a potentially longer service life.

Good luck!
Jon

Even in the current state of the PC market (where scarcity is clearing up and deals are finally returning) sub-$100 outside of some third-party sales are almost exclusively Atom-powered deals (like an Acer desktop that pops back in stock every so often).

Good luck!

Might be sooner rather than later for the glut to begin for refurb K-12 school Optiplex computers of this variety. We're currently replacing all the OptiPlex 30 series up to the 3050, 50 series up to the 5050, and on with the 70 and 90 series due to their non compliance with Windows 11, widely being rolled into the district since last year. Where enthusiast consumers can get around that, most people will not. I believe there will be far more non compliant computers available in the next few months than consumers to buy them. In my Florida county alone we'll send close to 10,000 packing before January.

If you want this old PC.

Sure you could find $90 if you look enough for that.

I use these for low-powered home server setup. Way more powerful than a NUC and you can even put a full 6700 (non-T) in this chasis. Price isn't terrible if you want a refurb straight from Dell. If you want to use them with Proxmox, they work perfectly.
