My experience with Coleman is that they have been the ONLY tent that did not leak in torrential downpours on our North Coast of California. Recently had a REI house brand 4 person tent leak at the seams and a Marmot 6 person that leaked. The build quality of the Marmot is excellent and after hitting it with fabric sealer, it's been fine, but it was a $350. tent and I would expected it to be a highly rated tent.

+1 Looks like a good deal. Unfortunately it doesn't ship for 1-2 months and I need one in a couple weeks, otherwise I would have got it.

Good deal. Just paid $100 for this and used it last weekend. Good tent, though it absolutely needs the rain fly if you want to be warmer, otherwise there is NO way to keep the huge mesh windows covered

What rainfly? It comes with a rainfly are you saying need another one?

I own the version of the tent with the awning sold on the same Amazon page. It's basically the same tent but with a screened porch. The tent is easy to set up and does a good job blocking light. I use it at camping music festivals so after being up late night I need to sleep and the dark room technology works fairly well

I recommend this tent and just bought this one also since the screen porch isn't needed for me and space is limited.

They're probably saying you can use it without the rainfly but the mesh roof just lets all the heat out so to be any kind of "warmer" you have to use the rain fly. In summer it's great to leave them off to be a little cooler in a tent

Yes, thats what Im saying. If its at all chilly, you have to put the included rainfly on, which completely blocks ALL windows and the roof (no view of the sky). So, your choice is either entirely mesh sides and roof or completely closed with the rainfly. There are no Windows to zip/unzip . Thats definitely a downside for me. Also, there is no loft to store things above your head (mesh loft that attached to the inside roof as I have had in other tents). Otherwise, construction and quality is good.

Interesting. Please confirm with me as I have the version with the porch. My version has windows that zip close. You are saying the version without the porch that this slickdeal is for does not allow for the windows to be closed?

The sides have no closeable windows..they are mesh from about 2 feet off the ground to the roof. You have to use the rain fly cover if you dont want the air to come through. I have the standard Sundome 6 person, not the Dark Room technology one, but I image the mesh sides would be the same on both.

Not sure what tent you have, but this one has two windows that zip open/closed. One built into the door on the front, and another one on the back of the tent. This is clearly visible in the photos if anyone is unsure.

Better price than the recent Prime Day deals on a 6-person tent (that one was the non "Dark Room" version). Looks like Target has a few more versions on sale.
This Flatwoods 6-person one is slightly cheaper at $70:

Anyone have any experience with this line or know any differences (besides the Flatwoods is not a Dark Room version and is red instead of green)?
