I bought this in August and have used it twice. I absolutely LOVE the tent. It's totally overkill for my wife and I as two people, but we are really happy with that. Be aware that setting it up and tearing it down is a bit of a cumbersome process, so make sure you practice once or twice before heading out on your first trip (or at least book yourself an extra 15-30 minutes to wrap your head around it).

I think of these things as investments because these tend to come in two varieties, cheap - inexpensive ones that are hard to really reuse and are essentially used once and thrown away.
Then there are these suckers, which are much more well built but harder to put up / reusable.
To put things in perspective, spending a night in the city will run you around 200 dollars a night. Maybe 100 if you are doing motel.
Anyhow, with that in mind, there's a definite break point in value for you relative to amount of use.
Such a great tent! I bought mine used from REI and have loved it. Plenty of headroom, storage pockets, etc. and the large vestibule area is fantastic — in the event if severe weather there's enough space there for 2-3 people to sit and relax, or cook a meal, etc.
