Benchmade is well-respected and you do pay a bit for the name, but it earns that with excellent materials, service, technology, and workmanship (quality control being their main issue). IMO it's among the best (for the money) along with Boker, Emerson, and Zero Tolerance. The Griptilian line is well-established (released in 2001) and shines at almost everything. The Axis locks are superb and it's fast, light and smooth; and there's a lot of choice in materials for the blade and the scales.

With many blade steels it's also important who produced it and how it's been treated — Benchmade consistently excels there too. The CPM-20CV in this offers great edge retention and corrosion resistance for the money, while being a bit less tough and harder to sharpen than, e.g., S35VN. As for the handles/scales, I'm not 100% sure what exactly these are, but when you buy Benchmade you can trust it's going to be more than half decent. You can upgrade them later if you want anyway.

Kinda like saying if you're buying $200k cars you should learn take care of them yourself. You're not wrong, it's just not helpful and a bit out of touch.

I got this knife for this price in august. It's a great knife. Griptillians are classic.

What makes this knife worth $110? I see that it's made in the US, which is nice, but otherwise I'm a bit confused.

Additionally, their knives are very customizable an they have a great warranty (plus free sharpening for life... something I've taken advantage of more than a couple times over the years).

I bought this about a month ago for this price. It's a good deal for 20cv from Benchmade. A small don't is there is some play between the metal liners and the plastic grip but it doesn't affect the blade and liner lockup or the overall function

If you're buying $100+ knives, I suggest you learn to care for the metals and sharpen them yourself.
It can be argued that if someone is gonna drop over a hundred dollars on a knife then they may be used to having people do tedious tasks for them that aren't worth their time
