ESIM is basically a non removable SIM. It's embedded in the phone. You activate it by scanning a QR code your carrier provides. In theory this is not as convenient because you can't just swap SIM card physically but it is also more secure. If your phone is stolen the SIM can't just be taken out.

Does anyone know the pricing for the 13 regular and 13 mini at Costco? I prefer having a physical sim slot for when traveling and the vast majority of small carriers in various parts of the world do not support eSIM yet.

It's physically in the iPhone. I post to the older phones where you had the little tray and you put the Sim card, then slide it into the phone.
