Got the 32gb for $99
I have a few of the previous generations (4k first gen 2017) in 64gb and never needed the extra space.
I've used Roku, firetstick, builtin sony and samsung streamers. Apple TV is my favorite by far. You can use your regular tv remote to control apple tv. If you have an iphone it will auto pause tv when you get a call i you want.
4K (first generation)
At an Apple Special Event on September 12, 2017, Apple announced the Apple TV 4K which supports 2160p output, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and includes a faster Apple A10X Fusion chip supporting HEVC hardware decoding. Dolby Atmos support was added in tvOS 12. Following the announcement of the new models, the 64 GB version of the Apple TV HD was discontinued. Externally it is similar to the 4th generation model, with the only differences being the addition of vents on the base, the removal of the USB-C port, and the addition of a tactile white ring around the Menu button on the included Siri Remote.
4K (second generation)
On April 20, 2021, Apple announced an updated Apple TV 4K with the A12 Bionic chip, support for high frame rate HDR, HDMI 2.1, and Wi-Fi 6. Its HDMI port supports ARC and eARC, which allows other sources plugged into the television to output audio through Apple TV, including to AirPlay speakers like HomePod. It also has the ability to pair with the ambient light sensor on iPhones with Face ID to optimize its color output, a feature that was also extended to older Apple TVs with tvOS 14.5. AirPlay supports high frame rate HDR playback, allowing videos shot on the iPhone 12 Pro in Dolby Vision 4K 60fps to be mirrored in full resolution. Following the announcement, the previous Apple TV 4K with an A10X Fusion chip was discontinued.
The model also comes with a thicker redesigned Siri Remote with a circular touchpad with navigational buttons, as well as power and mute buttons. The remote does not include an accelerometer and gyroscope, which were present in the previous Siri Remote, making it incompatible with some games. The remote is compatible with previous generation tvOS-based Apple TVs and ships with an updated SKU of the Apple TV HD.
4K (third generation)
On October 18, 2022, Apple announced an updated Apple TV 4K with the A15 Bionic chip, reduced weight and dimensions, and support for HDR10+. It comes in two configurations, a Wi-Fi-only model with 64 GB of storage, and a higher-priced 128GB model with Wi-Fi, Ethernet and a Thread radio. The included Siri Remote charges via USB-C instead of Lightning.
I still use my AppleTV from 2018 and it's faster than my 2021 Firestick. You'll get 6 years out of this so it's worth 3 firesticks plus you won't get bombarded by amazon and can do screen mirroring if you have an iphone. what would you rather have?
How much better is the apple tv over my Nvidia Sheild (have the first version)? I'm interested in running Zwift on the apple tv. I'm casting it right now to my shield which works fine, but everyone raves about the apple tv when running Zwift.
i love homekit so better to get the newest version with thread right ? i feel like $150 for 3 generation newer appletv is worth $50 on top of other features
I have the fire stick, fire Box, Roku Ultra box, and the 2017 4K Apple TV. The Apple TV is by far the best streaming device out of all of them. It's UI is smooth and if you go on YouTube, there are videos that shows you get more transfer rate while streaming with Apple TV
Have you compared it to the nvidia shield? I have the first gen shield and it's the best streaming device i have. I have firesticks (1st, 2nd, gen; 4k and 4k max verisons also), chromecast, roku, etc. but not an apple tv.

WTF? Why would they do that? The photos on Amazon show the port on the back. I have a 64GB unopened and now wondering if I should return it and wait for a deal on the 128GB — while I have ZERO use for the extra storage (what the heck do you guys do with the storage? I primarily use this to stream, online and locally — no local storage, and I have nowhere near enough apps to use even a quarter of the 32GB) but it's the best streaming box on the market, esp for me who am in the Apple ecosystem already.
Sorry if someone has replied already but the 64gb version you have on hand already would have ethernet. It's the new 64gb model releasing Nov. 4th that has the ethernet removed.

I don't get the need for ethernet, actually ran tests on my EERO mesh and ethernet performed worse in download speeds and bufferbloat (ping related).... I don't know how.
Infuse is a pretty dang good Kodi alternative for your basic movie and TV library viewing.
Infuse is the best app available for streaming movies from network shares on Apple TV. I sure wish there was something that good for streaming music from network shares on Apple TV. If I had that, I'd never change the input on my TV away from the Apple TV. Unlike Kodi, VLC and MX player, which are available for Apple TV, don't have gapless auido playback.

Well your setup aint that good then at least for wired connection.

64GB is $129, but removes Ethernet port for wifi only connections.
128GB model is $149 and retains the ethernet port
