Does CapitalOne share info with HSBC? We opened an account, gave CapitalOne our HSBC Bank info and didn't have to do trial deposits.

After all the bonuses and offers this year I will dread my 1099's that come with the new year.
I'm glad I paid at least 100% of last years taxes, and quarterly taxes this year.

I used the promo online but was required to call to complete the process. However, I noticed that the promo code was no longer applied because I needed to call them. The rep confirmed that the promo code didn't apply but I should still follow the promo steps and call them after 90 days for an exception. Does anyone have experience with Capital One's promo rejection rate because of bs like this?

They said the reason I had to call was to verify my contact info. I've never had a CapOne account before. After submitting the online application, the screen said "We need more information before you can continue." I attached the screenshot. A couple people on Reddit had mixed success and rejections with getting an exception for not having the promo code applied. I guess I'll have to call them after 90 days and be persistent.

So when you called what did they ask? did they ask for anything different than on the app?

They just said that they wanted to verify my phone number and since I called from that phone number, I was verified. Then, they gave me a code to enter into the CapitalOne continue application webpage that picks up from the summary screen before I submitted my online application. I forgot to check if the promo code was still on the summary screen before I submitted! Facepalm I called aftward to ask if the promo code was submitted. They said the promo code was not applied but to follow the promo requirements and call for an exception in 90 days with no guarantee they'll grant me the exception. Lesson learned: got to be diligent and not rush when $1K is on the line. shake head Whatever, the interest rates are way much better than the few cents at BoA or Chase anyway. laugh out loud

how do the accumulation work? what if i do half now and half later do I get the larger sum or on the initial deposit?

I had the same question. So I called Capital One and asked them. They said any deposits coming into the account within 15 days of opening will quality towards the initial funding requirement.


It is best to make sure the transfer is complete and funds available in the new account before the 15th day.

Anyone know if capital one is more sensitive to pulling from or pushing money into the account?

I know some banks are more likely to trip out when pulling/pushing from external accounts.
