Buyer beware. I bought one at target, loaded $50 on it and when I went to use it it wouldn't work. Called the number on the back of the happy card and the company said Target pulled the funds. Went to target and they said they wouldn't do that. Called the company back and they said it expired even though the expiration day is January 2030. So I'm out $50

Questions for you.

1. When you buy a gift card instore, sometimes, you get a separate receipt showing how much the gift card has. Do you have it? Or do you have a receipt showing you bought the $50 gift card with matching gift card numbers on the receipt?

2. Are you aware that this type of gift card needs to be redeemed at another website before you can use at store of your choice? I think some of them may not need to redeem online but the ones I have bought online needed to be redeemed through online link first, but like I said, I bought them online and not instore, so instore gift cards may not need to be redeemed online first. I bought Happy card or something like that. I chose Buffalo Wild Wings at the redemption website after receiving an gift card email, then received an email with actual Buffalo Wild Wings egift card after I redeemed.

3. Gift cards should give you a link for customers to be able to see all the transactions for that gift card. If there's no link provided, you probably need to contact gift card company about it.

Yeah, you go to the website try to check balance and it says call customer service. You call them and first they tell you it's expired even though it expires in 2030 and then they tell you Target took your money. Thanks for the advice but if you get a bad card there's not much you can do because both companies don't help you.

This deal was yesterday's "today only deal". It was on Target website. It's expired now.

I am sorry to hear that neither companies want to help you with your issue. If you can prove you did buy $50 gift card but there's no balance in it, I feel like you can file charge back with your credit card company. It's unfair to you to lose money in this case. But yes, there's always risk in buying gift cards and stocking them to use later.
