Let's say you bought the 3090 at $2300 and sold your 1080 ti for $600 during the peak. 2300-600=$1700 out of pocket.
Now fast forward to now, $870 for 3090 minus say, $50 for the 1080 ti. 870-50=$820 out of pocket. That's a saving of $880.
On another topic, you waited for over 1+ year for this price. Will it hurt to wait and see what team Red will offer in 10 days? Others have also mentioned that inventory are still too high for the 30 series. Space is money, you don't think retailers will try to off load old inventory for new stuff come black friday firesale?
I saw it on eBay the guy was dropping one FE every 10 minutes and they sold instantly. I sent him a PM and asked if he had more, had a couple FE, a Gigabyte and Asus card. I asked for the Asus card and he was nice enough to send me the listing link the second he listed it.
this in no way can be replicated and never even sent out notifications because they were bought by apps /bots the second they were listed. this guy was a blatant idiot as they sell around 750 often the same day they are listed.
It's been possible to purchase cards online for months now. I even placed an order for the brand new RTX 4090 on the day after it came out for MSRP. In-store is a noob trap. Online orders ship straight from the warehouses, and the stores get their stock from the warehouses so they only get stock if people didn't place enough online orders to take all the stock at the warehouse.
Because more then likely you dont actually need a 3090. Most people dont need a GPU with 24 GB of Vram, a 3080 will get you most of the performance of a 3090 and you can easily get a good quality non mined one for 500-600$ if need be or wait for RDNA 3 and see what NVidia drops the prices on the cards.
Its really not worth spending money on WOOT either, would not trust them at all. More then likely it could be a bulk returned card they are selling as "new" or something like that. Would not be the first time.
Cant find a new 3080 for this price, if I had to buy now, this is a no brainer

As I said, if you look around, you will find a lot of the cards are gone from online stores. Here is an example, I'm backordered on this

That doesn't stop it from being true. He never said it was a slickdeal, he gave a personal experience, you called BS, he showed you the receipt and you got egg on your face when he proved it.
The only ones in stock has ridiculous pricing or is used/refurb.
Here you go buddy: https://discord.gg/ByagNwNt
In-stock checker bot. Stuff is getting restocked constantly, but it goes back out of stock within minutes -but there are a lot more cards than you'd think. โ

So it goes out of stock within minutes, which means supply is not there.
Thank you for the link though. Will check it out. I'm specifically looking for a "reasonably" priced Asus Rog Strix 3080 and upwards card.
If you're thinking the 40xx series is going to make the 30xx much cheaper, you might have false hope. They're already talking chip shortages, vendors are pulling out, and availability problems.
I'm betting the 3090s are going to be in the $700-$900 range for at least a year.

Yeah, 3080s are pretty rare these days. Think they're sold out. I scored one with a Hydro Copper cooler on is for $829 from EVGA in February. Card is a BEAST. Water cooling lets it overclock like a MFer. I'm getting around 88FPS on Cyberpunk 2077 with a three monitor 5760x1080 setup.

If you don't care about DLSS or Ray-tracing, the 6900xt is a better performing card than a 3080 in traditional rasterized gaming and widely available for $670 and up right now. It's likely to get even cheaper though -and on the 3rd next month AMD are revealing next-gen cards as well. If you DO care for DLSS and Ray-tracing you might still wait for the 3rd because the leaks suggest a greater than 2x performance increase for ray-tracing from the new generation of AMD cards, and the ray-tracing performance of the 4090 does suggest that a similarly priced card to a 3080 should have superior performance in that regard.
I don't really see a 3080 at MSRP after two years with next-gen launching imminently being a good buy personally. At least the 6900XT is nearly $400 off MSRP. Just my two-or-three cents.

Whats your point? He said he got one for 550, you said he didn't....but he did. He never said it could be replicated, as a matter of fact he stated that he was lucky.
I've read reviews that the Trinity version have horrible thermals which is why its much cheaper than other variations out there. If you're forking out this much already, I would spend a little more for an msi, asus, or even a Zotac AMP Holo version for better thermals.
