Great price, I paid twice as much. That said, I probably wouldn't buy this again. It's heavy and clunky, and my son doesn't want to ride as much because of how it handles.

At this price, from Costco especially, it may be worth trying out.
That's what I thought, but that's not how it turned out. It's better on paper, but weight and geometry may be better on some walmart bikes IRL.
Good price. Not an amazing bike from the looks of it (heavy steel frame, weird geo, very long gearing, super cheap suspension forks often add weight for no real cushion or traction benefit), but does look above average Walmart kids bike.

For a parent that doesn't want to spend "a fortune", I can see this being an OK deal. For a parent that wants a more serious bike for their kids, there are many better options, but most of them cost multiples of $100, so it is almost apples to oranges starting listing them. Just remember: bikes are complicated machines, almost always build by hand to a large % and not sold by the "pound" (actually are sold by "inverse weight": the lighter it is, the more $ they ask for it, typ. at insane "exchange rates").

A "kid's" bike is not easier to make than a grownup's bike neither is less complicated.
Kids bikes end up being cheaper than adult bikes only as a loss leader to get parents that would buy expensive bikes for themselves started* buying for their kids, or because serious ends are cut and bikes built to a price point. "No free lunches". If the "deal" is too good to be true, it probably is not as good as you think.

*typ. for higher end brands, e.g. Specialized does that for example: look how much bike you buy for $600-700 on ther kid's line, and how measurably worse their adult line is for the same $

Hi-ten is a meh frame material, super heavy. But this is better than a Walmart kids bike.

Ordered 1 for my son.

I paid $90 for a 20" Kent Ambush from Walmart 2 years ago. Biggest complaint is he has to get off and push his bike on some large up slopes. Most Walmart 20" bikes do not have multi-speed. And I don't think we can find a light frame 20" with multi-speed in this price range.

The one thing I liked was the trigger shifter. None of my kids, 6 - 9, are able to get the darn grip shifters to work because they are so hard to turn with their little hands. But the reviews, especially about how super heavy it is are discouraging. Sheesh

I don't even see how it's better on paper.

I don't understand why grip shifters are used on kid bikes. I've never seen a kid be able to use them and always have to swap for triggers.

No price is worth it if they're not having a good time with a too heavy bike. You want less tears

I'll second that the geometry on this bicycle doesn't look great. Of course, finding a deal at this price means scouring Craigslist, but fortunately the used bicycle market seems (like the PC market) to have settled significantly from the earlier part of the pandemic lockdown period.

My favorite kid bicycle geometry has been on the ByK frames. Though this review of a smaller model [twowheelingtots.com] does a better job of illustrating how cramped short wheelbase bicycle can be, you can check the pictures in this review of a larger model [twowheelingtots.com] vs. the pictures on the Costco model to compare seat and knee positions.

I also always find myself triggered by a kids bicycle listing that fails to incorporate a chain guard.

Good luck!
Jon

The weight of that bike is absolutely ridiculous. It's reported at 28 lbs?!?!!? Kids that small absolutely do not need a suspension fork. It probably barely moves at the forces kids riding exert. My kid's rigid 20-inch bike is about 19 lbs
