Oh and people aren't saying "Wait til BF" on this because it's $20 and you'd probably be saving $5-10 waiting. For someone who needs one of these for whatever reason, is $5 worth waiting? Probably not.
Also, Google pushed a new update to the Nest Mini 2nd Gen about 2 weeks ago and its significantly slower to respond now. It causes all sorts of issues with multiple Google Home devices. For example, if I try to set a timer, the Google Home will set the timer first because the Nest Mini is slow, then the Nest Mini will set the timer, but at this point the Google home is listening for a response and it hears the Nest Mini respond so now the Google Home will set a second timer. This happens back and forth between my Google Nest Mini and Google Home. I had 4 one minute timers set on each device this morning before the Nest Mini took an even longer to respond and broke the cycle.
Google Assistant is awesome. Google Nest Mini 2nd Generation is absolute garbage and Google should give everyone who owns a Nest Mini 2nd Generation a free replacement when they create a new one.

Product quality is and always should be inherent to legitimacy of a "deal".
This is fundamental. This site has always been about this.

Exactly.
The more frequent the deals, the more jaded people get, and the less the posts become about the deal, and more about the product itself irrespective of the posted deal itself.
Look at PS5, nvidia 3xxx, lenovo Legion laptops, and other repetitive deals over the past 12 months. for reference.
May as well add some random Tesla threads to this too, lol.
Don't rush to conclusions—this is working as intended. It's spooky season
Maybe I'll hold till one day Apple offers affordable/practical price point
You do realize all of the APIs for third party devices aren't hosted by Google's servers, right? This is true regardless of what ecosystem you use, unless your devices are interfaced locally.
The best way to improve the speed is get HomeAssistant or a Hubitat and host all your devices locally.
If that's too complicated, stick with devices that have US based servers.
That no-name plug off Amazon is probably pinging a server overseas, which adds to the round trip time of the response.

A theory is the original power supplies suck and don't provide the board with enough power to function reliably.
Ever since I upgraded the power supplies on my units, they've started behaving better.
