Be aware of AMD's new model naming scheme. The third # is the most important. It applies to the 'Zen' generation. E.g 7320u - the 2 is the Zen 2 architecture which was the previous released AMD 4000 series with slight performance increase due to the 6nm process. The 3 is ryzen 3.
So a 7330u Apu is a ryzen 3 based on Zen 3 (5000 series).
7535 -> ryzen 5, Zen 3+ (6000 series).
Now those who want the true Zen 4 series will have to look for model #s containing 7*40
First AMD Mendocino laptop I see! Sucks it's just a 900p screen, tho. Big no-no nowadays, especially considering it's a 17" laptop
Absolutely horrible resolution for that size screen. Text will not be sharp at all

Unusually low resolution for a big display. Price is good, but that resolution will only be okay for media consumption, text is not going to be very clear. At that price, can use that has a mini pc or flash it into a Chromebook.

For this price I'm tempted to get it just for a docking station. But agreed with others, basic resolution kills it

This likely sets the new high bar for performance per dollar in the budget/productivity laptop space on slickdeals to date (for models new in retail, so excluding refurbs). The platform in which this laptop is wrapped is definitely cheap, commodity laptop plastic that is as close as you come today as falling into a "luggable" category. The screen is also likely a misery if you have a need to use this as an actual mobile computer.

However, as a basic desktop replacement for Excel, browsing, etc. this price presents a real value as this CPU should easily be on par with other basic, 4-core i-series CPUs such as the 10th and 11th generation i3 CPUs.

Anyone able to determine if the RAM is upgradeable?

Good luck!
Jon

I would qualify that the resolution isn't unusual at this price point. Even at the original retail price this is a classic built-to-a-price design. You get a relatively modern AMD APU and other reasonable component choices (which is to say functional SSD and RAM options). Cost-cutting on the screen was almost inevitable. I'd daresay this was never a $500+ laptop, but was easily a $400+ laptop even in the relatively lower price tiers typically occupied by budget 17" models.

Good luck!
Jon

Uses the old Zen 2 cores, though has a RDNA 2 igpu, but just 2 compute units, so it's not as good as the Zen 6000 mobile series
