TBH the fingerprint reader is a great time saver when it comes to login, but on Chromebooks you can't use it for anything else (yet). ChromeOS doesn't allow it to be used for authentication within apps, so if you use services like 1password you'll still have to use your password.

Perhaps it will change in the future, but for the time being you're not missing much.
I'm in the market for a high end Chromebook. Buy now or wait for Black Friday?

Tempting... looks like a good price for the specs.

It's a shame the screen is a bit worse than the spin 513 this year. Also seems odd not to have a fingerprint reader in 2022, I would have taken that over the built-in stylus any day. Will have to think about this one...

Just curious what benefits and use does a high spec chromebook bring on the table vs a windows one? Like last time I was on Chromebook I was just stuck with limited apps and play store

I've been running the same basic Chromebook for 6.5 years and have been searching for a new one. My CB14 has been great, but now that I have dabbled a little with with Chrome's Linux capabilities as well as Steam, I find a little extra oomph would be nice. I think even if you aren't exploring those features, the extra processing power makes Zoom smoother and loading spreadsheets faster. I don't think it's worth blowing $600+ on a Chromebook, but I think somewhere around $3-400 range with 8gb of RAM, and a non-Celeron processor would be the sweet spot for a lot of folks...and this particular one is pretty close to what I'm describing.

Seems too much hardware for a chromebook, better suited for a windows platform, but hey, i probably isnt just familiar about chrome that requires this much hardwaee

No fingerprint authentication with Google going for their new password system won't be fun to miss out on.

I honestly don't know. But a $500 Windows laptop is sorta low end and will be chugging along in a couple of years.

I was honestly looking at the 2021 Lenovo Flex 5i 13 Chromebook. Can probably find it for $300 or less on BF. Then I saw this deal which I know is a much more powerful Chromebook. I don't need much power or features, but I HATE it when computers run slow and lag.

https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/762103 I did rather buy this. Which I did 😇👍

Looks like a nice piece. But for me I'm looking for a Chromebook and for cheaper.

People who have only used low-powered Chromebooks or just used browsers on windows PCs (or Macs) just don't know.

Try using big intel processor chromebooks, you might be able to simplify your life.
