The HP dragonfly chromebook posted recently had a weaker processor (1215p) than this. A 12th gen i3-1220p vivobook i just got is not performing as well as a similarly powered chromebook. I do wish they stayed 3:2 screen ratio l though.
The roughly $500-600 big Intel processor Acer Spin Chromebooks have been best overall price performance leaders in premium segment, so that might still be a possibility.
I recently switched from MacOS to ChromeOS for work, and driving two 4K external displays out of an i3 8th gen laptop started to show its limit.
So earlier this week, I upgraded to an HP Dragonfly with 32Gb RAM and an i7 12th gen vPro, and it's AMAZING! I don't use any software other than a web browser, and this machine is the fastest way to connect online without having to worry about viruses and security updates.
This Acer laptop has 8Gb but a very capable processor and GPU. You won't be disappointed. If memory is upgradeable, even better. I log in on two accounts simultaneously (corporate and personal), and I keep a lot of tabs open on both: 16Gb+ works well for me.
Also, this combo includes the pen: I've been pleasantly surprised by how the pen is well integrated with ChromeOS. Google Keep and Squid are great places where to store handwritten notes.

Chromebooks can handle many tabs with 8GB. I've done so for years. I've had 16GB RAM Chromebooks and the difference isn't that much. Not saying I don't want 16GB RAM on a chromebook, just that it is a nice luxury on the off chance it's available - and you can afford it.

You could slap 64GB RAM and a FAT Gen.4 NVMe drive in there to complement your i5-1240P.
