got the 3d chair yesterday and thought i'd share some experience. delivery guy said it was the 4th one that day but only one with the installation. apparently folks are not selecting the free $99 installation option on the item page. they set it up, connected the foot rest and went through a brief testing to make sure it works. also took away all the packaging. we have it in the corner of the great room next to the tv. its a large room so it doesn't stand out like i though it might. it does look like a pretty high tech looking quality chair. it might be bit out of place in a more traditional decor.

everyone in the family had good things to say about it. in fact, wife fell asleep in the massage chair last night. very relaxing massage overall. there are rollers on the bottom of foot rest as well as on the calf section. the calf section also rocks back and forth for "kneading" action while airbags are inflated. its also neat that it will grab onto the feet using air bags then the foot rest gently pulls the legs for a nice stretch.

it will also hold on to the shoulders using airbags then 3d rollers will push up on the back and create an arch for a nice stretch. rollers go from the head / neck area all the way down to the butt so its a pretty long track. there are 21 preset massages but haven't tried them all yet. there does seem to be variety to the programming from the few i've tried. during programmed operation, settings such as back intensity, airbag intensity and foot roller intensity can be adjusted. there is a manual mode where all settings such as massage speed and others can be adjusted which i haven't tried yet.

heating in the lower back does work and there are 3 levels that can be selected. bt audio does pretty good job and better than what i expected. besides, these speakers won't be used for jamming anyway. still have to work through all the options so it will take some time to get a full picture.

now for some issues...one thing i would have liked is lighted keys on the remote. while the screen is backlit, buttons are not so its bit difficult to navigate in a darker room. i guess it might be a non issue once i get familiar with the button layout. also placement of the control knob on the arm rests sometimes causes it to turn on when you accidently bump the button while getting up from the chair. for some reason the back intensity setting didn't seem to have much difference between lowest and highest setting. may need to try more to tell for sure. when going through the initial body scan, for some reason it asks to manually adjust the shoulder height. not sure if that is supposed to be done automatically but detracts from the full auto experience.

EDIT:

shoulder height issue noted above is normal per the osaki/titan manual. insignia manual isn't very clear. osaki/titan manual has better explanation.

2) Shoulder position adjustment
Ā·After detecting the shoulder position, the buzzer will beep. If there is any difference
from the actual shoulder position, adjust it to the appropriate position by pressing
the "UP" or "DOWN" key. The shoulder position has 11 adjustable levels. If there is
no shoulder position adjustment within 10 seconds, the massage function will start
automatically. Press "OK" directly to start massage immediately. If no shoulder
position can be detected, massage will be started according to the shoulder height
by default.

I bought this last time it was on sale for a thousand bucks. No regrets. Great purchase. Just make sure that your TV is mounted high enough on the wall so that you can see all of it in full recline...

5-10; 215 lbs - just got this last week from when it was last at this price. It would depend more on how long your torso is and it may not get all the way up to your neck(it does for me but just barely). Also note that it's lower to the ground(14") - it doesn't recline but I got something that would allow me to put my legs up that's around ~12"

Torn between 2d (great value) and 3D (assuming better massage) any expert thoughts?
I'm in the same boat. Is $800 more worth it?

Got the compact chair. It's surprisingly decent. It's small but I prefer it that way takes up less space. No real set up, just unbox and plug in. Gives a good back message. Only thing missing is the leg message, but otherwise a real nice value.

I tried the 2D one this weekend in a Best Buy.

That was amazing.

I don't have the space neither the 1k, but am still considering buying it.

The difference between 2D and 3D is the range of motion for the rollers. 2D goes up and down, side to side. 3D goes up and down, side to side and variable motion of the two. 3D was made to simulate more of a traditional massage experience.

I used to work at a hospital with both 2D and 3D chairs in the health lounge. The 3D chairs were always booked up because it just felt better overall and the foot rollers were top notch (the best part of the massage in my opinion).

Is it worth the additional $600? I would say yes since you will likely recoup that value over the course of the chair's life. If this can replace two massages a month for a year it is paying for itself 1.5x over.

Ordered the 2D and setup the delivery to be 12/23 as it's a Christmas gift for my wife. It's too big for me to hide, she'll still get it early, but 2 days is better than over a month.

I am buying this with a costco citi card that gives 2 year warranty after the manufacturer warranty of 1 year expires.. I intend to use the credit card warranty if the chair has issues within 3 years. After that, it is sunk money I guess
Does Costco credit extend warranty for a Best Buy purchase?
