This is clearly a very dishonest company. Complete bait and switch on their part. Will never buy anything from them. They should have canceled the order Completely instead of shipping just the battery and removing the inflator from the order history.

If they even called or wrote with an option to cancel due to a mistake I would do it, but the fact they shipped the batteries and just intend to eventually cancel the inflator has me mad, I'll be opening a paypal case as well as leaving notes on the business online via google.

I don't want to deal with fedex and shipment refusal and the mess that will come with trying to get my money back. Something tells me this company will be a headache to get a refund from and they will try and charge shipping costs for the batteries.

Won't even look at their deals anymore.

Yup. The fact that they had cancelled only the free part is what's lame.
I didn't order the batteries just because of the price of the batteries....i did it to get the inflator too.

I have never bought anything from Northern tool but now I never will. I will stick to Home Depot.

I placed two orders and received both sets of batteries yesterday and both inflators still show as backordered on my order page.

Same here (except I only ordered one). Based on my original comment position in this thread, I think I was a fairly early order. It will be interesting to see if the inflator ships. I don't mind waiting a while with the batteries still in their box. My backstop for waiting is the return window, which according to their website [northerntool.com], is 60 days.

"Northerntool.com orders can be returned for any reason within 60 days of receipt. You can return your order to any Northern Tool store or Northerntool.com."

I'm glad I did not send the second one (Christmas present) directly to the recipient. I was also an early order plus I live 15 miles away from their warehouse.

Looks like they are cancelling the free part of the orders! and being annoying / dishonest about it. I called and the person i spoke was very nice but unable to resolve anything as the batteries shipped, no idea if I could wait for the "backordered inflator". This doesn't look good.

So like almost everyone that ordered one I did also, mine also said "Backordered" after I ordered. I received the battery 2 pack but didn't open. I contacted customer support which said that was a mistake on their part and they will not honor the inflator since they no longer have them. I requested a return authorization and the rep was kind and authorized the return of the battery 2 pack and gave me a $20 gift certificate for my troubles. Hopefully this helps other also.

They took my credit and personal info and now I find out they cancelled the order. I have not received an email stating that, but when I went online and checked my order it said I had no orders for the past 6 months.
I called and went through the phone prompt, entered my confirmation number and they said it was cancelled!!!

They are a Milwaukee authorized dealer. As far as I know, the M12 inflator is not discontinued, so it would be odd for them to just stop carrying it and never get stock again. Yes, I'm sure it was a listing error, but before I let them off the hook, I'll wait it out to see if the inflator shows back up on their website (it's backordered on my order details) and then I'll file a charge back if they don't send the inflator or offer a credit on the batteries in a prorated amount, because they only partially fulfilled my order.

I have no problem with a company making a listing mistake and cancelling orders, I do when they lie about it and try to get away with fulfilling less than what they advertised.
