I paid $79.99 for both the batteries and the inflator. The sent only one of the items, they then retroactively removed the inflator from my order history---yet my order confirmation (e-mail) and my packing slip show the inflator.
So, if they don't intend on shipping the inflator (I'd be willing to bet that at some point they list and sell the M12 inflator again on their website, it's not a discontinued item) I don't intend on paying full order price for a half fulfilled order.
How they are playing this on their end is the reason why I'm willing to file a chargeback (I've only done it once before when I was double charged for a B&M point of sale purchase at K-Mart (so it's been years)) and leave a review with the BBB. Hell, I'll contact my and their Attorney General which is also recommend for these type of consumer complaints.
Since they weren't competent enough to catch the error prior to shipping the batteries, all they had to do was acknowledge the error, contact the consumer (they claim they did, but did they?), offer a partial refund to keep the batteries, be polite, be proactive, etc.
Instead they're being bullish as if they didn't cause this mess and they're being borderline shady by wiping items from order histories. My batteries were delivered today and outside of this thread I haven't heard a single word from them about their intentions with the inflators. They're hoping that enough people will not open an RMA or at worse, will just send the batteries back so they don't have to take a loss fulfilling an advertised promotion.
They took off the inflator and didnt send out an email, even thought its on the original receipt. That is one of the most unethical moves I have seen in a while. Are they just hoping people will forget the "Free with purchase item"?
I am going to do a chargeback. They are very unethical, I cannot trust that they will give a refund.
I thought this was a legit offer, figured Milwaukee must be dumping excess inventory, etc.. And from my experience, Northern Tool is a large online tool vendor, been around for many years.

If they just cancelled and didnt ship the order, I would just move on. But to cancel half the order, while charging the full cost, AND not send an email is pretty underhanded. They were cancelling orders before they shipped mine.... why didnt they cancel all the orders that had the promotional inflator before shipping?
The customers shouldnt be inconvenienced to the point where they have to print out labels and drive to Fedex, because of their mess up.
I placed three separate orders. I actually wanted three inflators, the batteries were just a bonus. I wanted to keep one inflator in my cargo trailer, as one of the tires regularly leaks, one in my garage and one at work.
They cancelled an entire order due to problems with my credit card (it's the same card that I used on the other two...) and I can live with that. That cancellation happened within 12 hours or so of the order being placed.
This was my first time ordering with Northern Tool so I created an account with my first order. I have order confirmations for all three orders and a cancellation e-mail for the third order.
After that I got shipment confirmations for the first two orders (just the batteries, despite the inflators showing as backordered in the original order confirmations).
I received no other communication from them, outside of regular advertisements and promotional e-mail blasts.
At some point, without notifying me, they wiped the inflators from my order history. I have screenshots of the order history before Northern Tool wiped the inflators and after.
Again, all this happened without any notification. Even my packing slip included with the batteries shows the inflator as a line item (obviously it wasn't in the shipment).
It's like they're pretending nothing happened.

I explained to the customer service person that from the customer point of view, there is nothing right about this situation. They said they sent out emails regarding the cancelation of the inflator...like many others on here, no such email was ever received.
My question to everyone is what can be done? I would not have cared if they canceled my order before it shipped if they didn't have inventory. I would not have mind if they sent an email saying they could no longer proceed with the order, as ordered, and asked if I wanted to proceed.
However, to not honor everyone's order and SAY NOTHING ABOUT IT, change the order in their system to show just batteries, PUT IT ON THE CUSTOMER TO REALIZE SOMETHING IS WRONG, reach out and the only solution is to keep the order WE DID NOT PLACE or go out of our way to return something they made an error on...is just not right on many levels. I asked the customer service person many times, if anything else can be done, I would've accepted a 50% off of the order for batteries (and never order from them again) but the customer service employee said nothing can be done.
What are options besides charge backs? I would like to inform others outside of this thread on how this company does business and treats customers.
