I've bought (checks Amazon history...), 6 Knipex items from Amazon. If they aren't genuine, they are good enough fakes that It doesn't bother me.

These are more specialized. Diagonals can usually cut some types of steel and other semi-hard metals. These should only be used to cut soft metals. Diagonals are also better for cutting zip ties, cutting wires in tight spaces, and cutting flush against a surface. In other words, diagonals are much more versatile. But if you cut a lot of soft stranded cables and want the ends to be clean and round, these are great at doing what they are designed to do.

I have this tool in the comfort grip version. It is excellent at cutting stranded copper and aluminum cables and giving you a nice, clean cut, while leaving the cable round at the end, instead of pinched like most diagonal or side cutters. This makes the ends easier to fit into connectors, terminals, etc. There is also an 8 inch version that I like even better, but it is more expensive.

Knipex pliers wrenches that I have ordered from Amazon arrive with poor casting, non-flat surfaces on the jaw. I think I had to send them back (to amazon) for replacements three times, before receiving one in acceptable condition. I think that they either have some fakes or knipex has poor quality control. At their price, and simply being a formed piece of metal, I think they would be an ideal product to counterfeit.

If you had these, would you still have any use for diagonal cutters? Or do these totally replace them?
