So really, if your budget has room, go big lol. You can't have too many clamps lol.
If I had both arms and legs, I'd just use pipe clamps myself. Parallel clamps are just more of a convenience and help make things easier for me.
One thing new, and old woodworkers never seem to understand is this... Clamping pressure shouldn't mean you turn wood to diamonds lol. If your boards are jointed and planed correctly, then no more than snug is needed. And if using dowels, biscuits, domino's, or routed edge joints, the pressure needed for edge gluing isn't as much as people think. (I prefer dowel, and splined t&g joints for most things myself, but with costly, and albeit l, overhyped Domino systems, they dont get much love these days lol). And, you don't need 6 clamps per foot lol.
So in essence, I'd say go for it. Do what makes you happy, and confident in your abilities as you grow. Practice things. When starting off buy cheap box store pine and just experiment a bit. New woodworkers have the best New ideas. And just watch out for the hype bubbles that youtubers create... they'll have you convincing yourself that you need a $300 router bit. (BTW... wanna buy a barely used $300 router bit? 🤣 🤣 🤣. )
So, it's possible they made a mountain of these clamps, and got a better price pet clamp in doing so, so now they're just trying to clear the mountain a bit?
Or, they already made huge profits on these, so in order to increase quarterly/fiscal sales, they cut the retail price?
Either way, I use far more clamps than most people could even consider lol. And Bessey's products have fallen a lot in the past decade. Where Jorgensen has stayed pretty balanced... but in this world, that balance could change any time lol.
I'm buying Six of the 48's and Eight of the 24's. Lol. So thanks for the heads up. I can never have too many clamps, being a 1 arm/leg woodworker. Lol.
I'm just worried as to if/what "cost saving" sacrifices were made on these clamps?

Traditionally, I'd go Jorgensen all day. But I'm always concerned about large "New price" drops. The people owning these companies don't just suddenly say "I want to make less money" lol.

The 24s dropped down to this price around this time last year. May be something they intend to do every year around the holidays.
I'm hoping the Jet one's go on a crazy sale like they did a few years ago. They're the 2nd best parallel clamp ever. (The first best are one's I made, but the cost and efforts traumatized me 🤣 🤣 🤣).
Something to think about.

Question for you. Beginning woodworker here. I have two 50" Bessy parallel clamps. If I were to only buy two more, which size should I buy? I have a bunch of <=24" F and quick clamps.
My thinking is that I can buy bigger ones and not have to worry about having enough size. But they clearly make the smaller ones for a reason.

You're going to do more than just glue ups... so the parallel clamps are really designed for that. The bigger parallel clamps are going to be your least used clamps; unless you are not in a specific field. And even then, you wouldn't really be gluing up slabs all day due to a finite amount of space.
