Why the thumbs down? For $176 it doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. An extra 8gb of RAM and it seems like a good basic home PC as long as you can live with the small hard drive capacity. Can install an extra storage drive if needed.

Or you could wait until it arrives, see what RAM is inside and buy one more stick of that. That's probably the cheapest and safest way to upgrade, IF you have mixing concerns.

I bought mine in May and it came with Adata 8GB 1Rx16 PC4-3200 . But some others in those threads reported getting Samsung, Kingston and Micron.

This is not bad at all. Bought it a few months ago for my high schooler at about $200 + tax
Then I
- Added 8GB RAM ($25) , it's necessary when opening 30-40 tabs on chrome and run all other applications at the same time.
- Replaced the 256 drive with a 1T nvme drive ($70). This isn't necessary as 256GB is plenty for school work and programming tools etc. but 1T nvme drives are cheap these days.
- Replaced the stock cooler master CPU fan with another more quiet cooler master fan ($15). This is also unnecessary since the fan noise wasn't bad to begin with.

I originally bought the Dell OptiPlex 7050 micro ($150, with i5-6600T) but my kid complained about the fan noise when the system is loaded.
The machine has been great so far. USB-C port and DVD drive are bonus

Yes I understand the cpu which is why I noted "if just for Plex"…if you need to do heavier cpu intensive stuff this i3 is better for that. Just pointing out that if someone only wants a basic Plex server setup this isn't the most efficient setup or value specifically for that use case.

I bought this model and I like it. It has 16gb ram, and 256NMVe for OS, and 2 TB ssd card for data/storage. Windows 11 works great on it. I like that the price went down.
