after finally deciding which one to get I also noticed the code expired when trying to purchase but I reached out to the customer chat and they gave me a coupon that worked (35% off). not sure if you can reuse this but give it a go: 8D21876M21XC

If not try and giving the chat a try.. had to wait about 20 min but they were helpful!

Agh. I can't make a decision. I need a carry-on that will work with any airlines - especially for international flight... but I won't be flying more than 1-2x a year. Don't need it to be hard shell, nor a spinner, just quality & no issues with gate agents on sizing. Maxlite air would probably be fine, but wonder if I can do better and get more out of a fabric based option

Edit: Also, seems like "compact" should be the right choice to avoid any potential issues with it not fitting in a bin/bin check for international travel... Preferring fabric over hard shell because it has been sufficient for me, and also would like it to be lighter for bringing more things

I see now there's a way to filter by soft fabric, carry-on or checked, etc. Still unsure if it is worth the buy, though

Does anyone know how well the wheels will take pounding? When I travel internationally, my carry on bag weighs about 40-45 pounds and I go down a lot of stairs dragging the luggage as it falls from one stair to the next, landing on the wheels, bang, bang, bang, probably 200-300 times a trip (# of steps). So I need some luggage wheels that takes a lot of abuse and am willing to pay for it. (If you are wondering why I simply dont pick it up and carry it down, I am no longer a spring chicken, so to speak.) And many hotels, subways, railroads outside the US dont have convenient elevators.

Then take less 50 # should be too heavy for a carry on there is a weight limit for take off and people like you get me scared if we will get wheels up !!

I have used many generations of Travel Pro.

The non-spinners (typically half submersed) are sturdy against such use. Never had any of them break. BUT, the wheels themselves are prone to getting flat spots or getting cracked or chipped when taken off-road so to speak. Then you get that really noisy repetitive sound which is annoying. I have started keeping a stash of roller skating wheels that will fit to replace when that happens or even pre-emptively sometimes if the wheels are getting worn out. The worst usage for them is a gravely surface.

The spinners are far more prone to damage from rough usage IF they get caught in the wrong position or land at a wrong angle. I would avoid them for the type of torture you want to subject them to.

Great deal as this works on most everything onsite. I went with 29" and 25" Platinum Elite softside spinners. I've been waiting for a good sale on TravelPro for awhile. TravelPro Elite warranty has been great. I've had some bags take some serious abuse with zippers being ripped off and wheels jamming. They've always fixed them without issue.

Thanks. So far, I have used 2 wheeled luggage and had no issues, havent needed to replace any wheels. I just got the platinum elite 25 spinner. I better take them off to see if the front wheels can be exchanged with the back wheels in case of damage or bring along a spare!

Thank you- have been waiting for over a year for the soft side Platinum Elite! This is even a bit better than our strike price based on CCC history, and even sweeter with two Amex $30 off $150 between me and my husband. Averaging the Amex offers across the total purchase, we got two 29" check in bags at $238 each and one 21" carry on for $187. Super impressive deal. Thank you!! Rep'd!

I have this carry on. The best one so far. Very high quality product. I also have trvel pro laptop bag. That slides in the carryon handle easily.
You can compare your carry-on with everyone's carry on at the airport. You'll be in top 90%. It looks and feels good. It is very sturdy. I have never used any better carry on than this.
It has both usb, usb-c port for your power bank in the outer end.. the connector is usb-a though. But not an issue for me atleast.

Where to get Amex $30 off $150? I didn't see it in my Amex offer page.
