Amazon is now offering 10% CB using your Amazon Prime CC on select devices. The Echo Show 5 is currently at $34.99 but if you buy 2 there is a $10 coupon - SHOW52PK

With the $10 coupon it takes it down to $29.99 each and another 10% CB takes it to $26.99. I haven't seen a better deal on these w/o trade-in. Sadly, you can't combine a trade-in deal with this.

Only the charcoal version gives 10% back, the blue and white gets you 5%.

Think all those taxes would get the homeless off the streets right?...

anecdotally, gen 1 had a terrible mic (mic couldn't hear what I was saying but an echo dot in an adjacent room would) that rendered it unusable.

not sure if gen 2 is better, but I've avoided this model and much prefer my show 8 (gen 1).

Very nice deal. It's a small screen, but it's nice to have the time displayed, unlike the dots. I switched from the 5 to the 8 for our kitchen, and it's much easier to see, especially for older eyes. It's tempting to buy these for a couple places though. Repped, OP.

Ironically, CA doesn't warn you that they could cause cancer, but they cause more pain than the things they do warn you about. Wink

We use these as a bed side alarm clock replacement waking up to our favorite radio station via iheart radio plugin.

It's just about the right size and it definitely gets dimmer at night than an echo dot with clock (which we also own) and cheaper too. My plan is to eventually replace all the dots and old school alarm clocks in bedrooms with this single device.

Can you watch security camera with this? Wife bought a echo and blink camera said there was some kind of deal. Not sure how much we could see on the screen.

With our security system, yes, we can watch our cameras. We don't have Blink though; but if it's Alexa enabled, I would guess you would be able to see it.

I have one of these, and it's noticeably slower to respond to voice commands as compared to Echo Dot 4th gen devices in our house. Honestly if I didn't have the Echo Dots to compare them to, I wouldn't have noticed.

It IS, however, better at human detection than the Echo Dots. I have the Echo Show set up with an Alexa routine so that when I walk in to my office in the AM, it turns on a couple of overhead lights (and a ceiling fan in A/C season) - it works well.

I also have the Echo Show set up with Alexa routines (i.e. "Alexa, show me the front door") to display my doorbell cameras and a bullet cam in the garage - response is slow to the point of being ineffective.

In contract I have an Echo Dot 4 set up to turn on our living room lights in the AM when it detects people presence, and it rarely if ever works - I ended up setting up a Home Assistant automation that triggers the living room lights to turn on when we switch the downstairs hallway light on from the upstairs hallway when heading downstairs in the AM.
