These are fully controllable RGB lights. Preprogrammed effects in app and can make your own as well. These are also usable with other controllers in the lighting industry to add to shows and control with xLights. See this video: https://youtu.be/tNRMY2xzfrk

The nice thing about Twinkly is they are 5mm LED size. We normally buy 12mm WS2811 pixels to control and they are about $25-$35 per 100 (so $150-$200 for 600). You can do smaller props or more precise spacing with the smaller 5mm pixels.

A large xLights community out there doing amazing holiday sequenced shows at their houses. Here is one of the songs from my show last year: https://youtu.be/8hXyc7eBYwc

I have the music attachment. It's utter garbage. I'm getting a set of these.

Does anyone know if these will do warm white? I know some models don't support white ranges.

How many would y'all recommend for a 8ft Christmas tree?
To really do it right, 2x600. 1x600 will work, but not as nice... but you can always add more later.

Thanks. Was looking for a tree with integrated twinkly lights but so far everything on sale is only 435 lights. I would prefer a minimum of 600. I guess I will just string them myself yet again this year.
I found a 540 light tree at Big Lots for $300 after a 20% coupon

The pre-lit tree is down to $299 from $499. Could I get a set of 600 lights and add it to the pre-lit tree?

Thanks OP, I was able to save an extra 10% with Discover Card cash back rewards redeemed for Michaels Gift Card.

I love these lights (despite the software bugs). My K-Mart artificial tree is 8 years old and 1/2 the lights are out now i'll replace them with these!

I do not have Twinkly lights in my display… yet. Just ordered 4 boxes of these for some smaller projects I want to do. What you see in the display are all 12mm WS2811 pixels, 26,000 of them. This year's show will have over 40,000. I haven't seen a good deal on Twinkly's so never had the inclination to get any until now. We are always looking for off-the-shelf lights that can be hacked or made to use with our shows.
Man, I would love to build a show like what you've done. I really haven't dipped my toes into that area at all, but saw you used xLights (which was the first time I've heard of that - I'm a newb I guess). I'm definitely going to check that out and learn more. We put up just under 20k lights last year, I suspect we will be around the same this year as well. Any advice you have would be great to help me get going. What are you using for the projection mapping on the garage? It seems like it's coming through really clear. That's something we've considered as well but reviews have been mixed with the equipment I've looked at.

Picked up a tree. Wasn't sure if it was better to buy tree with lights or lights only and put on tree. I already have some previous prelit led trees so not sure if I'd like them with lights off and twinkly 600 pack on top.

Paired these up with a 14.5% off gift card plus CB from CB website, so that turned out great!

For anyone also buying discount gift cards to stack discounts, please note Michaels only allows you to use 2 gift cards max. I accidentally bought one too many to cover the last $10...

I usually get an 8 or 9 foot tree and load it up pretty good with lights. Think I should go with 2 sets or would that be overkill? I don't light the back of the tree since it faces a rear window, maybe 1 set would be good if I'm not concerned 25% of the 🎄...?
I would get two. I have a 7 foot and two 400 sets but still thought it needed more.

We are all noobs at some point! On youtube search for Canispater Christmas for a good primer on RGB lights and controllers. Some stuff is old but gives a good background.

On Faceboom join "Official xLights Support Group" and read lots of great posts and also ask for help there.

The garage is not a projector. It's a 22' x 8' matrix of 6,000 pixels spaced 2". The further back you are the better it looks.

Is it better to buy a twinkly tree or just a set of lights and buy an unlit tree? What are the pros ?
The biggest downfall of the pre lit is people saying sections stop working. Best thing about the pre lit is that the lights are spaced nicely within the branches and the wires don't really show. Best thing about a non lit tree is you find a really nice design one with more realistic branches and better find exactly what you want with it being cheaper. Worst part once again is just having to put the lights on and hide the wires. Obviously takes more work than putting up a prelit tree.
