These are fully controllable RGB lights. Preprogrammed effects in app and can make your own as well. These are also usable with other controllers in the lighting industry to add to shows and control with xLights. See this video: https://youtu.be/tNRMY2xzfrk

The nice thing about Twinkly is they are 5mm LED size. We normally buy 12mm WS2811 pixels to control and they are about $25-$35 per 100 (so $150-$200 for 600). You can do smaller props or more precise spacing with the smaller 5mm pixels.

This is almost like the Deanna Rose farmstead stuff. It's such a delight during holidays that I wish the season never ends.

Yes, I've used them for almost 10 years. They used to be called ABC gift cards or they merged or something. There's a little bit of a trick to using them. The issue is they're a 3rd party basically buying and reselling gift cards other people have and so they're also at the mercy of whoever sold the gift card to them (The original owner, for example, could keep the gift card number and try to use it a few months down the road). In general, I only buy online gift cards immediately before I need it and only buy as much as I need and so I don't have an issue, or if there is an issue I can immediately flag it for them to resolve. Don't keep gift card balances after their 45 day guarantee, and you're good. In this case with Michael's, I bought $150-ish in gift cards, applied all of it, and then paid about $12 leftover balance with my cc. It's about 14% off $150 worth, good enough. If I have to refund,h Michael's will refund me in store credit, which is not a big deal to me because they issue a new card at that time and I honestly go to Michael's quite often for crafts.

I had one hiccup in the last 5 years with a $1000 Disney gift card I bought because even though the gift card was real I wasn't able to transfer the balance and they refunded my order even at that high of an amount, so I trust their customer service.

Also, as another tip, one of my CB extensions gave me a few % CB from their website, plus they take credit card which stacks with my 3% CB credit card so even though my discount for a Michaels gift card was around 14% the additional CB was also even more. And then of course I had about a 5% CB also using a CB extension for the one Twinkly order from Michaels.
Thank you. Very useful.

Can you string these together end to end to wrap an outdoor tree or does each set need to have its own controller/plug?

The biggest downfall of the pre lit is people saying sections stop working. Best thing about the pre lit is that the lights are spaced nicely within the branches and the wires don't really show. Best thing about a non lit tree is you find a really nice design one with more realistic branches and better find exactly what you want with it being cheaper. Worst part once again is just having to put the lights on and hide the wires. Obviously takes more work than putting up a prelit tree.
Grrrr so it sounds like out of ease it's best to buy a twinkly tree from Costco to cover all the issues I may have.

No, you cannot string them together. A warning for those buying multiple boxes. We did the same last year with the intention on doing some awesome outdoor decorating. Pretty disappointed after spending hundreds of dollars Frown

I received a shipping notification, but the tracking number is for a UPS shipment that was delivered months ago and not at my address.
