From my research it seems the Pre-Lit Twinkly trees use first generation technology and the only only way of getting second generation is by buying the lights separately. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Therefore I bought the 600 strand of second generation lights from the Michael's deal and will buy a unlit tree to put them on.

That's what I did with my 9 foot tree. Really good value but stringing and unstringing these take about an hour whereas my already strung twinkly light trees take 5 minutes.

Can anyone confirm whether this model has PVC tips, PE tips, or a mixture of the two? And if it's a mixture, about what percent is PVC?
I'm in the market and had decided to buy a PE tree because they look so much better IMO. Costco will have their 7.5' tree on sale for $400 in a few days. This price point is making me reconsider though.

I was planning on getting the Costco tree (item 1487014) until I saw this. Do you know if the Costco tree is PE? Not much info on the Costco site.

From what I understand Costco will have their prelit twinkly on sale for 400 in the next couple of days
