I got one from the previous deal that hit the frontpage, $5 off coupon from Paypal sweetened the deal.
It looks and feels new. I happened to have a spare 8GB ram stick that I got on BF a couple years ago. I found videos online how to upgrade ram and add an sata ssd. It didn't feel particularly slow with just 4GB of ram, but with 12 GB it feels pretty good. Unlike with a retail version the HDD cage and SATA cables were not included, but I wrote a polite email to Acer and they sent me that. Now with $30 500GB Teamgroup SSD for storage 128GB m.2 drive doesn't seem bad.
With my 2 upgrades it does everything I need for $230.
Also I have USB-C driven external ASUS 15.6" display - I tried it and it works fine, so not sure about "1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C data only" - it supports video out in my case.

I politely emailed them about the sata cables and HDD cable and they basically told me to f*** off. And again a second time, even though I implied I'd return it after.

Had to return mine. Came with 4 dead pixels. Screen doesn't get very bright. Could've dealt with the brightness issue but not the dead pixels. Good deal if you get a nice refurb

I am in for 1. Thanks OP. Anyone got a source for grabbing a stick of ram for this before I go and Google? Or at least a proper brand (I've read some posts where certain devices require specific name brands....)

Bought 2 Acers a few years ago. The power plug was the worst ever--very tiny plug into the side. Any force on the cord end breaks the power plug off the motherboard. Fixing this requires opening the machine up. Does this model have a bigger power cord and plug that can withstand a little pulling?

Same happened here as well. I think they either ran out or realized that everyone was asking for them and they would lose money.

I guess I was lucky, I was not at all sure if emailing would work, only decided to do it after seeing a similar comment in the previous thread. The kit is around $30 on ebay

I got this stick from Adorama via urlhasbeenblocked 2 years ago
"Crucial Technology 8GB 260-Pin SODIMM DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) Memory Module, CL17, Unbuffered, Du..." - the link to product in the email doesn't work anymore, this is all my order confirmation shows.
The package has this model number:
CT8G4SFD824A
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a
I think other sticks should work too, I sort of remember RAM upgrade video had amazon links for compatible sticks

Well, that was fast...lol... guess they only had a very limited amount left? Maybe they will have a few more next weeks?

Yeah, the early birds grabbed all of the avail ones. Once it got out and too many people req it, they tampered it down ;(

Still a tiny plug ;(

Literally any ram 2400 speed or above is good. I tried a gskill ripjaw 32gb 3200 and worked fine. However, it will slow any ram down to 2400 speed.

Note that whenever you have greater than 4GB ram total, it will reserve 2GB to video instead of only 512MB. So you probably should go all the way to at least 16GB sodimm.

Anyone see a bracket that would work for the ssd that isn't $20 on ebay? I ordered the cables but not really fond of using double sided tape to hold 2.5" ssd in place.

Cheapest is requesting it from acer for free. you should try anyway even if there is a chance they might say no now.

They already said no via ebay. Unless you have alternate contact details I'll go with the two $3 cables I ordered from china..just trying to find a cheap bracket that fits...willing to bet the brackets are basically the same for ALL the acer lines.
