i use this. building up a bunch of points that can be used on amazon so it's better than nothing. you have to make 5 small charges a month to keep it going....
This is a very poor use of the points. Especially since they are transferable to travel partners. You're missing out on at least half the value of the points.
My roommate lives with me and pays me rent in the house that I own. Can I get her to sign up for this so she gets points or will I get charged anything as the landlord?
When you make at least 5 posted transactions in a statement period using your Bilt Mastercard, you'll earn points on rent and qualifying net purchases (purchases minus returns/credits) for that statement period. If you do not make at least 5 transactions that post to your account in a statement period you'll earn a flat 250 points when you use your Bilt Mastercard to pay rent through the Bilt App.
I received an email from BILT/WF recently that acknowledged the rampant fraud happening as of late, and it appears they are taking steps to address the issue and increase security. Take that with a grain of salt since its WF, but they did give us 1000 bonus points, and it feels a bit better knowing that it was a widespread issue and not me being careless with my card

no bonus and can't use this to pay mortgage bill ?
I got a 5x points in the first 5 days, they send this via email to new card owners, capped at $10,000 in purchases. I paid my taxes with it and pocketed 50,000 points instantly. Not a bad "signing bonus".
Also discovered that my health insurance will accept 1 cent payments on this card. So that satisfies my month 5 purchases as well.
The big question here is what's stopping you from making your roommate/wife/whatever the 'landlord' and having the check cut to them and mailed to your own house every month?

it's not really a big question because wf/bilt is not new to banking and credit card fraud. they have investigators. if they suspect anything, they will ask for the lease and go from there. they could reverse all of your points, close your account, mark your credit report, and/or send you to collections. it's probably not worth it just for a few hundred dollars. how often do we see so many people on this forum complain about "credit card" stuff when in reality they have questionable or criminal activity in their background. possible credit card fraud is what's stopping most people from doing what you are asking about.

THIS! Got my new BILT card in Nov. By Dec, there were fraud charges and then hold time of 3 hours with Wells Fargo to reissue and dispute. Waste of time and not worth the points or credit hit to cancel the card imo.
^wow, it certainly sounds like the competitors really did a number on bilt. lock up the card and make the rent checks bounce and 90% of the customers won't use it again. brilliant if it works by burying the program. if so, maybe someone else will come along and steal the idea. guess we'll know in a few days.
