Please be careful about when it says Rent Payments. Only specific rental companies are covered in it.Triple Check with your rental company if they accept it.
I've been using this since July now to pay my apartment rent. Never had an issue with a late payment, but I do submit payments on the 28thish. Been using points to cover regular amazon purchases because it's slightly more value than redeeming for statement credit.
Provided that I'm qualified, once I get the instant approval, can I start using it right away before the physical card comes in the snail mail? Or I would need the physical card to pay the rent for my Feb 1st rent due?
If you're thinking of scamming/churning Bilt with rent payments, please don't. I pay an exorbitant amount in rent. After my first month's payment, I was "audited" and I had to submit proof of lease. It was addressed quickly, but I did follow up with some angry feedback that they shouldn't wait till the day before the check is supposed to go out to do an audit. (They almost caused my rent check to be late.) Since then, no problems. That was about 8 months ago.
The points are pretty valuable because Hyatt is a partner. That's the best redemption value, IMO. American is an added bonus, so it's a good complimentary card to Chase Sapphire/Reserve, which does not have American as a transfer partner.
Now I just need a Delta transfer partner for flexibility.
I think if anything, they'd probably rather have it be recatagorized as a cash advance on the credit card, i.e. higher interest rates.
But yeah, I love it, my rent is high since I live in a major city, so I come pretty close to that 50k max points each year, for basically doing nothing different and having one more open credit line on my account.
Overall my only gripe is how long it takes for my rent to actually appear on the credit card side:
On the 1st, I'll pay my rent via the online bill portal RentCafe, I'm happy, landlord is happy.
But it won't actually get posted on Bilt until the 6th or 7th.
They day it gets posted I then pay the Bilt CC bill, so 0 interest gets charged to me.
I use rent cafe as well so I can assume it's one of the companies they accept. If I understand correctly then you are being charged the same price as if you use a debit or checking account correct? Thanks

Though the question was not addressed to me I can answer it. I also use rent cafe and the amount is exactly the same that I used to have previously. That is the beauty of this card. You get points without any charges for paying rent.
Isn't BILT a predatory lender, i.e. notorious for dinging your credit and then denying you if you have good credit. the logic is that good credit = payment on time so no money through fines/interest for the lender
I've had this card for close to a year now and I use it every month to pay for my mortgage. In the beginning, I used it to pay my mortgage and rent payment for a family member but eventually they told me I could only use it for one "rental" payment or they would close my account. I've stuck to using it only for mortgage ever since.
I sure wish they'd hurry and figure out a way to allow homeowners an opportunity to earn….. many months ago they said they were "working on it" but I haven't seen anything about it yet!

The founder, though, seems like a tool.
