Are you kidding me? Do you even know what you are talking about?

VA panels are common on monitors and TVs, 300 nits is good enough for indoor use which is where a monitor is supposed to be used anyway, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with 60Hz because almost just everyone in the world uses a 60Hz screen for office work. People who need 144Hz for games know where to find such a monitor.

My $550 HP monitor is IPS, 350 nits, 60Hz and 99% sRGB on paper. I never had any complaints about using it for office work or watching movies. And the specs on this M70B are very decent for those purposes. According to this review [rtings.com], none of the things you mentioned is an issue.

I don't think you've actually toggled that setting then. Your cable might have been bottlenecked at 30hz the whole time. A mouse cursor is the guaranteed way to see the difference. No matter how bad your eyes are.

Since a mouse cursor doesn't get motion blurred in the GPU, when you move it across the screen you will see 5 individual cursors along a path. This is an example. This is because human eyes see all flashes in a 1/30 timespan as one image. Now toggle up to 60hz - you'll see 10 cursors. Toggle to 120hz - you'll see 20 cursors. The psychological effect of that is they have enough to motion blur, like in nature. Your brain will feel like it's seeing a real object moving rather than a image blinking place to place as you move it around.

Hope that makes sense.

HOWEVER - if you're watching video filmed at 24hz on real film at 180 of 360 degree shutter (where it blurs for half or all the exposure), and comparing it to video filmed at 120hz on real film, and you keep your eyes fixed at one point on the screen, they WILL look identical. No human can tell the difference. BUT if you move your eye around (like watching a football cross the screen), the 120 Hz video will look drastically better. This is because the football will be sharp. 120Hz video relies on your eye to motion blur sharp objects. 24Hz video blurs is for you. But the camera is stationary. So a 24Hz football will be this blurry streak your eye is tracking across the screen, which makes no sense to your brain. Thus it looks terrible. Cinematography crap...I'm rambling...

Shit (VA) panel on these unfortunately: dim (only 300 nits max brightness), slow (60Hz), and washed out colors.

Is this any different than the 43" TCL TV + usb-c 4k 4:4:4 60hz hdmi cable I got for like $200 total a couple years ago? Pay more because the cable isnt detachable?

Got on that same deal to use it as a monitor. I think it's fine, though not amazing. The TCL 5 series that I got a few years ago works better as a loft monitor/tv than the 4 series models that have been for sale lately.

I think one of the bigger differences with this tv/monitor is going to be color accuracy. The TCL is frankly shit if you're trying to do anything that requires color accuracy. I also like the idea of just having a single cord hooked up to my laptop, no need for any additional dongles or power supply.

Whoa so the tv powers your laptop and no need for power adapter? How?

The major con for 60hz is the judder on 24fps content (your movies). Regular TV content is absolutely fine

via usb-c cable. Of course, your laptop needs to support usb-c charging/display port over usb-c.

Any recommendation for a DP to HDMI cable or adapter? Need 60Hz at 4K, not 30Hz at 4K.

Amazon page shows it has TV Tuner. Does it have or have not?

I've been using a 2K@60hz VA panel monitor to watch old black/white movies in DVD. Didn't notice judder. Using monitor to watch everything since 2009. Never notice anything unusual.
