I've had this for about a month now. It's been good. I've had tiger and zojirushi before and there are some differences.
My friends older tiger model had a handy little condensation catcher. My mom's zojirushi (also from costco and the same size and features as this) has a cap that catches the condensation as well. This does not.
The reviews saying that it shoots water out are mostly from people who didn't read the directions; you have to clean the back, where the steam condensation drips down. It takes two seconds.
It's been good, does a solid job. It doesn't have many fancy features or bells and whistles, but at this price point, I wouldn't expect that.
Unlike some of its peers, it comes with an interesting steam tray that you can use to cook items with the steam from the rice. I wouldn't expect much from it; this is a fairly small rice cooker and the cooking plate is too small for more than one serving. But it comes with a nice recipe book.
I think the only notable issue I've had is with the quality of the anodized coating on the exterior of the rice pot. It was cracked and flaking when I received it. This doesn't affect the functionality or longevity, but it was disappointing. Still, this is an incredibly good price for this tier of rice cooker, and especially for one made in japan.
The only other concern I've had with it is that its keep warm function isn't the best. It's still quite good, but my older Tiger could keep the rice warm for much longer. This has a two part issue due to the lack of a condensation catcher, and because the keep warm function on this keeps the rice steaming hot, vs others that keep it at a milder lower temp. The steam collects on the lid and drops down into the rice, which makes the top too wet, and the extra heat makes the bottom too dry. Still, no real issues as long as you don't keep it over 2 days.
The other alternative (if you prefer korean rice) is Cuckoo, which Costco is also selling, for a bit more than this. Cuckoos tend to have more features. How good those features are is a tossup though; most are more for show than not.

The 2 ducks brand a very good, but must be purchase from Asian store around Dec-March. If you want to make sushi, go with HOMAI SUSHI rice a lot more sticky..
Sounds like a household issue rather than a rice cooker issue.
May certainly not be an issue for everyone, but for those that care, it can be a big deal.

Does this benefit in any other way? Am I missing something? I don't have issues with my rice's taste, but wondering if there's a thing I'm missing
